Remember how GM had a unique design for the Hummer dealerships? Well, one local to where I grew up went through some rebranding throughout the years. The first picture is from streetview around 2008.

Kinja'd!!!

By 2011, it was rebranded by the same dealer family as a Saab and Cadillac dealership.

Kinja'd!!!

As of 2016, the Cadillac dealership has moved down the road and joined the Chevrolet dealership. Meanwhile, the original Hummer dealership was once again rebranded, this time as a Mazda dealership.

What has become of your local Hummer dealership?

...I didn’t even know Hummer had their own dealerships!  I’ve never passed by one before!

No Hummer dealership where I lived during that era. No Mazda de al ership either for that matter, which is probably good because there’s a decent chance I would have bought a Protege5 instead of an S40, and then been left with a pile of rust a few years later. I feel like there should have been a Saab dealer, but I can’t for the life of me think where it would have been.

My favorite is one of the ones we pass on our route to Chicago. It was a hummer dealer and has the very obvious dealership design as you mentioned. It is now a Fiat dealer.

I would say that you summed up my local Hummer dealership pretty well.

My local one was always a boring Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealer that also sold Hummers. So naturally other than the signage and a slight renovation to the building itself, it hasn’t changed much.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Speaking of dead (at least in the US and Canada) GM brands, just down the road is a “ Suzuki” dealer that has yet to remove their signage after about 6 years or so of the brand being dead in Canada. No they don’t sell motorcycles. They’re just a used car dealer now.

This is it back then featuring the Quonset hut look.

Now I think it’s a Porsche dealership under the same ownership.

Not sure, but this is what happened to the old Ford dealer in the town where I grew up.

Kinja'd!!!

Built in the 1920s, closed as a dealer in the 1960s, now its an upscale hipster supermarket.

Went from hummer to a gun store and now a equipment sales. It was a cool looking building at the time  for the early 2000 ’s when hummers were hot, more than any other dealers that were box buildings

At least its still a Chevy dealership. Intact with its off road course.

I’ve been tempted to stop by and ask if they’d  let me run it. but I already know the answer.

Here’s one near me in Libertyville.  I think Napleton bought up the local Mazda dealer and moved them into what I think might have once been the Saturn building (though it looks very nice)

Are you talking about the one in Davenport, IA on the north side of I80? It's also an Alfa Romeo dealer.

I completely forgot about these; the one near me became a Buick/ GMC dealer. The curved roof actually works pretty well with the curved entryway that Buick Dealers use (also that e46) -

You can see where the old offroad track was to the north too-

I have no idea where one might have been around here, but your post reminded me of what must have been one of the smallest Ford dealers still around (although I believe it finally succumbed in recent years).

This is in a small town in Indiana, Spencer.

Its a Chevy dealer. I was actually chatting with the owner about it, and he said, “Well, I was renting the facility my Chevy store was in, and I owned this building, so it made sense to move the Chevy store here once Hummer folded.”

Makes sense to me.

That’s pretty cool that they have that.  It seems kinda gimmicky, but still.

The building to the right used to be a Saab and cool enough a Spyker dealership.I don’t think we EVER sold one when I worked at the auto mall.

They are super sized dealership. They started with Pontiac then Hyundai. Then they had all the GM products, Subaru, and Mazda. They tried to sell Fiats but that only lasted to 2016.

Its storage for its sister’s Chevy fleet department.

It also has a cool off road track, notice the angled drive on the right.
