Here’s something that does not tickle my fancy: this sad, sad, sad thing.

RWD, short bed, zero options. And I mean zero.

Even better: you don’t even get the 5.7L — this has the 4.0 V6. So in exchange for allegedly maybe two miles better per gallon you get ohhhhhh *148 LESS horsepower* I have driven a half dozen base Tundra plagued with the 4.0: it’s an absolute dog and can’t do anything resembling actual “work.” When I drove a 5.7 for two years, I actually got *better* fuel economy in the real world and felt like a rocket ship in comparison.

An d when I say zero options, I mean it:

- no tach

- no power locks

- no power windows

- no power mirrors (trust me, you NEED this fat boi)

- no cruise control

- no rear sliding window

A base model Tacoma (which I now use) would be a better idea because it’s not as fat and gets 24 mpgs for (extremely) light duty male-escorting. Or shoot, buy a previous gen 4WD SR5 Tundra with the 2UZ...

.......... But yeah, I was browsing for a shortbed Tundra 5.7 SR5 4WD again. Don’t judge. STOP JUDGING!

how does not installing a tach even mach financial sense?  it just means making 2 versions of a part which adds cost.  makes no sense.

You need help.

Finding a truck, that is.

To remind you what a cheap bastard you are for buying this in the first place.

So they can build a handfull of complete stripper models and advertise an enticing “Starting from” price to get you in the door. Then you step into the belly of the beast, tell them you want a tach AND power mirrors only to learn it’ll be a two option package bump to get them at an additional cost of a bigly sum o f dollars.

Yo u’ll protest, but being a Toyota dealer they will have already thrown the keys to your trade- in on the roof o f the building, after quickly finding every conceivable value- deducting   flaw o f course.

And oh what a feeling, you come home with a new vehicle.

Same as not installing cruise control, the programming is already there. There really is no excuse since the late 2000’s.

This is the truck you buy for your employees to drive if you hate them and know there's a 0% chance you'll end up driving it.

My father in law bought a van like that Chevy Express with the most basic radio, roll up windows, NO CRUISE CONTROL, and a 4.3l V8.

I wouldn’t be mad at the lack of power windows, because I don’t roll my windows down that often. And a basic radio is all you really need, especially if you have an aux jack for your phone. The base motor would be annoying, but it’s not my truck so I’ll still drive it like I stole it.

But if you dare to skip the AC and I will fight you.

If I remember correctly the aux Jack is the main only difference on the radio, as in thing van didn’t have one. The other nicer one he had did have an aux Jack.

That’s some impressive cost cutting. Was there a  way to charge your phone in that van?
