Well folks; reasonable mileage S4s with the 3.0 engine can now be had for $15,000. I still may decide to just sell the Beetle and not replace it. But if I do; I think I’m going to go with one of these:

Ten year old Audi, what can go wrong?

The last guy I knew who bought a used s4 ended up going bankrupt and ended up paying $30,000 for a first model year Honda Fit.
Don’t be a statistic.

USD? How does anyone pay that much for a Fit!?

Do it! I had a 2012 and loved it. Dead reliable during the time I owned it. 40k to 80k miles and it was a 6mt so no crazy transmission electrics to go wonky. Fun fun car. I would’ve kept mine had I not outgrown it with kiddo duties. 3 seats wouldn’t really fit in the back comfortably. So I upsized to an 2009 S8.... maybe I’m not the best role model.... nah, do it!

But find a 6MT with the B&O stereo. Very nice piece of kit. I’d go with the 2012-2013 if you can afford it. There were updates throughout and I believe 2013 got some better infotainment systems. The B8.5s are where it’s at. I miss that supercharger whine.

I just bought a 112k mile BMW so I can’t judge but...yeah I got nothing. The Audi 3.0 is pretty solid.

Well apparently at least they finally figured out timing chain guides.

Yessiree, USD, if you can believe that. Dealers were marking them up when they first hit the lots, and I guess between his trashed credit and his ne ed to be first in line for a Fit, it somehow added up.
We gave him a lot of shit for that, and for buying the S4 to begin with. (Clearly... I still am, 13 years later. lol)

Well this all sounds kind of dramatic. I can’t imagine anything that would lead to that bad of a situation.

Haha, I would certainly hope not. It ju st comes to mind whenever considering reasonably priced used Audi S’.

IS or GS 350 with Mark Levinson. Theres a reason 10 year old Lexus are worth more resale than the germans which originally cost more

Maybe, but that just means they cheapened out on another small but vital part somewhere else

that’s about the same price and millage of my GTI when I got it, but it’s a 2012.
on one hand, it’s a high-powered luxury death- machine, for a sweet-ass price.
on the other hand, if something breaks, it might be REALLYGODDAMNEXPENSIVETO FIX because it’s a high-powered luxury death-machine.
