E have mockingbirds, and they push other birds’ eggs out of their beats. Harsh. I posted about our Max scare, so I have to post a picture of our handsome boy.

Kinja'd!!!

He loves Kirby like I have never seen an animal love another animal. Kirby is a sweet kitty.

I have a chicken who used to go around the coup and peck holes in all the other chicken’s eggs.

This same chicken has recently   been escaping the coup and terrorizing my pitbull.

Birds are pretty metal.

Pumpkin is slipping up. Growing up, we had a cat that looked identical to Pumpkin, named Buxton. Buxton’s hobby was to hunt mocking birds. They’d make a swoop down at her thinking they were gonna mess with her, and she’d jump and rip them out of the air. It was metal.

Still better than the roid raging douches of the bird world, the starling

Male starlings aggressively claim nesting sites from other species, and have been blamed for lowering the numbers of Eastern bluebirds, purple martins and other native birds. Male starlings will fight to the death over a nest, and will also dump eggs and kill another bird’s young. Starlings do build their own nests, but they’re famous for shoddy construction. That’s one reason so many baby starlings are found on the ground.

Starlings have nothing on cowbirds. Basically, cowbirds lay their eggs in other birds’ nests with the intent of having the other birds hatch their eggs for them and raise their chicks. If the other birds sense that the eggs aren’t theirs and push the eggs out of the nest, cowbirds just go and destroy the whole nest out of spite .
