As per my yearly tradition, since I was about 4 years old, I ventured to the Alabama Auto Show this weekend to see what was on offer for 2019. Honestly, I wondered if there was even a reason for me to go, considering I get most of my fill on most makes and models at work, but then I realized that why should a new job stop my tradition. Plus it’s always fun to play around with new makes and models, no matter what the occasion is.
Fair warning, Kinja Kinja’d the overall layout of this post. I had a different vision for how this post would be laid out but it was lost when I saved it as a draft earlier. So, you’ll have to make do with annotations on the pics.
The new Camaro is not pretty. Shame on you Chevrolet.
The C7 may be leaving us soon, but it still looks brand new to this day.
The Colorado ZR2 is going on four years as my favorite truck.
I originally expressed distaste in the Gladiator, but an up close look left me liking it a lot more.
The new Rams are striking, and have some of the best interiors for a full size truck.
I didn’t know they let 20 year old Mercedes’ into these shows.
The new Silverado actually gets better in person. Trust me.
I was a fan of the new Blazer from the beginning, and nothing has changed. The lifted Camaro comparison is accurate.
The Sierra just looks better than the Silverado and most of its competition.
And that trick bed is pretty fantastic.
The new 3 Series is a decent looking machine in person.
But it’s ultimately usurped by its bigger brother, the new 8 Series.
I kind of want a Veloster N. I know this is only a turbo, but it can’t be much different.
I adore this shade of blue on this GTI.
I waxed poetic about the new S60 when it was revealed, and I still feel as strongly as I do about it.
Surprisingly enough, the AMG GTC seen here was open to spectators. I found the cockpit to be tight, albeit more spacious than the F-Type and Corvette it competes with.
This E450 Coupe was my mother’s favorite car of the show. I understand why.
But I was definitely more drawn to the AMG GTS 4-Door.
I don’t know why, but the new GLE just looks like a crossover that costs half the price.
This GLC 43 coupe, on the other hand, definitely does not.
When asked why they didn’t have the new G-Class on display, the representative said they haven’t kept one in inventory for more than a week at most. This is the only G-Class they had.
The new GT500 was a crowd-stealer, and a big deal at the show according to the social media page. It was definitely a sight to behold.
I definitely prefer the classic mindset of the Bullitt.
The new Explorer is a pretty SUV, and the return to RWD is mucho gusto.
Sometimes I can’t tell if GMC or Buick is my second favorite GM brand. The Regal definitely doesn’t help that.
Is the LC the prettiest car on sale today? More at 11.
Last year, due to a jerk running the Lincoln stand, I was unable to get any pics of the Navigator. This year, the gentleman at the Lincoln stand told me to take as many as I wanted.
The Aviator is striking, absolutely striking.
I was extremely disappointed with Cadillac, even though they brought out a CTS-V. They only had six cars set up, three of which were locked. The CT6, XT4, and Escalade were blasting annoying Diplo music, and the fucking asshole they had running the whole thing would get so ANGRY if you dared turned the music down. It was saddening.
My babies.
The NSX could be the most underrated supercar on sale right now. So much potential that gets cast aside because people are so hung up on comparing it to the original.
The Passport is really just a shortened Pilot. Not that that’s a bad thing.
This Range Rover had a sublime shade of red.
The Jaguar i-pace might be my favorite design of an EV currently available for purchase. Only Jaguar could pull that off...even though Cadillac pulled it off like five years ago.
Last year, Kia didn’t bring a Stinger to the show, and this year, Kia didn’t even show up at all, so this is as close as I’ve gotten to having a Stinger in the show.
Hope you all enjoyed leafing through the pics.

Nice set. Surprised Kia wasn’t there. I like the E450. Did they have a C class to compare? Is the interior really as good now?

They had a C43 AMG Coupe 4Matic and a regular C400 Sedan. I think the E-Class is much better.

I was hoping the non-AMG C coupe would be the new sweet spot, but maybe the E is still the one to get.

As someone with a new Silverado at their disposal , it gets a lot worse in person, trust me.
