Chevrolet: Makes cheap car with rear swing axles prone to snap oversteer under heavy braking or evasive maneuvers, causing loss of control, despite knowing that a stabilizer bar would reduce that tendency significantly
Ralph Nader: writes a book condemning the entire US auto industry and its repeated failure to address safety problems which caused injuries and deaths, of which the Corvair was only one example.
Everyone: RALPH NADER KILLED THE CORVAIR!

It is interesting to note that generally speaking, air-cooled cars and rear engined cars all disappeared from the market at about the same time as the Corvair. It appeared when the concept had reached it
s peak popularity in the industry, and then disappeared along with all of the rest.

The Corvair ended up too costly to build which probably l ed to the Chevy II. That, plus the Camaro killed it.
If anything Nader extended the life of the Corvair by a year or two .
