Glanced at my tires tonight, and
it appears that
Virginia’s Michigan-sized/themed potholes have finally killed the
Michelin Pilot MXM4's that came on the Charger.
They’re 235/55R18s, so obviously I’m not spending a grand on direct replacements, plus the MXM4s were not a great tire
. Any suggestions? I’m looking at the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2's and the Kumho Ecsta
PA51's. Anyone running either of those or have some better ideas? Anyone have a good source for tires in VA? Costco is always a gongshow, and Discount Tire is not a thing here. Is Tire Rack the way to go
?

If potholes are what killed them, is there a possibility of downsizing to 17s and maybe getting a bit more sidewall
?

Try Cooper Tires’ Zeon RS3 G1 tires. Lower tread wear warranty, but grippy as hell. I’ve yet to see my tires chirp when I get on the throttle quickly.
I got my set for $400. I’m not joking. Alternately, if you want a longer lasting compound at the expense of some grip, CS5's touring tires are worth a try.
As an aside, my tire size i s 235/55R17.

It’s not splitting but big chunks of the tread are coming off. So not sure it’s sidewall height. Tires have 40K so they’re pretty much at the end of the trail anyways.

Are DWS06s out of budget?

Do not buy those Hankooks. I had bad experience with them. Read my post
Try BF goodrich comp force 2a/s or Continentals.

Ok scratch those off the list then... thanks both those posts are super helpful.

Conti DWS or Michelin AS3+. I run DWS's myself. They're basically magical.

This was the first and last Hankooks I’ve ever used-came when I bought the car . I stick to Michelin Bridgestone or Continental when I have to install new tires.

Yeah I think the Contis might be the way to go if I can find a decent price.

Tire Rack does really good video and detailed text reviews of tires as they come out. They really liked the General G-Max As-05 (I think it’s 05) for being nice and sporty - main downside was that there’s some tread noise present. They’re made in the USA and currently have a $70 rebate (I, too, am presently tire shopping).
They said the new Kumho uhp all season is more of a mellow tire - if you like a more “relaxed” tire, it might work.
Anyways, even if you don't buy from them, some of the reviews are prob worth checking out to get a feel for the tires that are out there. I'd personally love some Michelin's or Contis, but they're probably more than I want to spend ATM. I think it'll be Generals for me.

They may be a little more expensive than the other tires you were considering, but you get what you pay for, and they're more than worth every penny.
