Well, crap. I went to pick up my 10th grader at his high school this afternoon. The road in front of the school is a 4 lane with a middle turn lane (5 lanes?). To get into the school’s drive, you have to move into the middle turn lane and make the left turn. So as usual I’m proceeding in the #1 land and start decelerating to make my move to the turn lane, I activated my left turn signal when this guy in a white convertible Mustang that was behind me, speeds by me in the turn lane. I show him my disapproval by blowing my horn. Yeah, I give him the 4 or 5 second “You fucking asshole” honk.

So I complete my move into the turn lane and sit behind him. He doesn’t make his turn although there is no oncoming traffic and instead turns around and starts glaring and screaming at me. I motion to him to go ahead and make his turn. (I just take my hand and motion at him to take his left turn.) He just sits there. Well, hell, I’m not going to sit t here being blocked by this nut case and take the left myself, going around him on the left and onto school property.

Fuck. That was a mistake. Now he is behind me and can see my license plate (of course I know his). I proceed to get in the carpool pickup line while Mustang guy pulls up beside me and starts screaming at me. I keep my windows rolled up and ignore him. Thank goodness, he just drives off after I refuse to engage him. But of course, now he knows my car and I really don’t want to run into him at school again.

I think neither of us were exactly gentlemanly here, but this guy really did pull an ass-hat move by passing me as I clearly signaled my intentions to turn. I shouldn’t have laid down on my horn. That is my bad, as was going around Mustang guy as he sat there blocking me I guess. I don’t need this in my life right now. Maybe I should just take a different car to school until the end of the school year.

You shouldn't have to fear driving your vehicle. If you see him again, keep your cool. If he wants to lose his poop again, let him, but be the better person. It'll make him look worse in the end if you take the higher road, so to speak.  If he gets out of his car and rages on you again, get it on video and take it to the police. People with anger issues like that need help. It's got to be a sign of some sort of mental deficiency.

Next time pop a cap in his ass.

Actually don’t do this. Film him and make him Youtube famous and send it to the cops.

I don’t think you can avoid it anymore - welcome to America currently....

I had some dude in a van try to crush me into a bus today - watched him in his mirror watch me as he kept coming over as I laid on the horn stopped between him and the bus. . I ended backing up into the intersection to get out of his way. I got out to express my sincerest apology for getting in his way at which point he pulled back out of the lane and took off down the shoulder... apparently he didn’t want to talk to me. The worst part was watching him knowingly try to smush me into the bus - not just on the phone or something.. . But I got the business name and plate and his employer will be getting a piece of my mind.

More reason to get a dashcam.  Plus if he wants to make an ass of himself on school property, you'll have video proof to turn over to the school, the district, and the law.  Let them deal with him.

Coming from a front plate state, I don’t get the worry that he saw yours.

For reference, here’s the worst that kind of situation can get:

Dude, whatever you do, don’t get out of the car if you see him again. That’s exactly the type of opportunity the Mustang is waiting for. The appearance of a sudden pedestrian will almost certainly cause it to careen into you with reckless abandon.

Mustang guy knows this, which is why he did his yelling safely from the drivers seat. Give him a break, it’s gotta be a stressful life.

But maybe get yourself some bear mace anyway.

I don’t understand people dumb enough to do that in a labeled vehicle.

You should show up early and teach his kid how to ride a bike, he will never get that back.

Many times, the driver of the labeled vehicle is also the business owner, so zero fucks given.

Film him and make him Youtube famous and send it to the cops.

Youtube might be fun, but the cops won’t care.  There is no law against driving while angry and stupid.
