Long Live the XFL!

I’m kinda bummed. They actually had some good football for the most part. Some of the broadcast ideas are ones that I wish would trickle up to the NFL.

I blame the super bowl. That game was so abysmal that I had no desire to watch football for months!

As someone from St Louis, those are the 2 most hated franchises in sports for me.

Understandable. I'm an Eagles fan, so I was rooting for not the patriots. But it wasn't just the outcome. That game was atrocious and it made me question why I waste my time watching such a terrible sport. So then 2 weeks later and I have the opportunity to watch more football featuring stars like (*checks notes) Trent Richardson? I'm good.

Every time I tried to watch, the quality of quarterbacks were no better than me. And I never played organized football.
Having said that, if a billionaire invests $250 million of his own money and is worried about $70 million in losses before the end of the first season, then 1 of 2 things is going on:
1) he sucks at business, or
2) someone made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

You know things are bad when Johnny Manziel is the voice of reason.

Rumor has it that the very wealthy guy was actually just interested in the gambling app that the league was developing.
I never actually watched a game because I had no idea when they were on tv.

I tried to watch it and the problem was the level of talent, nobody really stood out. In college it’s the whole pool of eligible players, t he NFL is all of the worlds best players so you have standouts at both levels because of the wide variety of players . The AAF are all guys just on the outside looking in so they are all at the same talent level and nobody stands out...because those guys are in the NFL. Kinda l ike watching a race with robot drivers in the same spec’d cars racing...the results will be zzzzzzzz.

I did watch it more than anyone else probably (thanks YouTube streamers) and the quality of play was even less than I was expecting. I used to watch the World League/NFL Europe and the quality was much higher. I think if they had gotten the NFL to allocate players for development next year it would have improved substantially. The more I read about this Dundon guy the more I smell a rat. He only ever wanted the app/gambling tech potential and never had any intent to keep the league going. Seems like Ebersol might have a bad-faith case against him?

There is a limit to how much football I like to watch. Even if the quality is better, I'm tired of football by February. I'd rather be watching hockey at that point.

Football is the only sport I follow at all, so I'm ok with more of it.

Well now that the AAF is done, it's never too late to pick up another sport. The NHL playoffs start in like 10 days. Pick a team and hop on that bandwagon.

We have a local rugby team and stadium, but by the time I remember they exist every year, their season is over.
I will watch hockey if it's on, but I don't have cable and they never show Avs games on network TV. Same for the Rockies.

I was watching the Avs last night on NBC sports. I don’t have cable either but I currently have DirectTV Now, which is basically cable but cheaper. Once the playoffs start, all of the games should be televised on the NBC family of networks but only some will be on NBC proper. Of course, there are always other ways to watch sports these days *cough* *reddit* *cough* *nhl streams*
The Avs currently sit in the second wild card spot with 3 games to play in the regular season.

IF you really want to dig deep, there’ s plenty of indoor football leagues. Arena and Indoor for sure. When AFL peaked, it was awesome. High scoring games, hits against the wall, pays off the net behind the endzone. Also, sideline tickets were $50 tops.

Tennis is a year-round sport. DirectTV even has a special for Wimbledon.

I usually watch some of Wimbledon, but I never really got into tennis. I think it stems partly from trying to play tennis as a child but not being any good at it. That’s not to say that I am good at hockey or football, but I never tried my hand at those sports so there isn’t definitive proof that I’m bad at it.
Sports I tried to play in my youth: soccer, basketball, tennis.
Sports I do not watch as an adult: soccer, basketball, tennis.
Now there is one racquet sport that I really enjoyed playing, and that was racquetball. To me it's a lot more fun for beginners. If you're bad at tennis, you spend a lot of time walking up to the net to retrieve your ball or walking to the perimeter of the court to also retrieve your ball. But in racquetball, even bad shots typically bounce back in your general direction.
