Thats dumb as shit. It's a 25k Jeep with a few mods, some body panels changed and is a "concept vehicle" . Think concept vehicle the way the panamera was the first Porsche, the lavente, Urus are the first crossover/suvs of their line.

$45k for a Rubicon isn’t that bad compared to a TRD or ZR2 but I wonder who’s buying a $60k Jeep Gladiator over a Raptor .

A nd when the diesel (with 8 speed auto only) comes next year I’d add $2k to that price across the board. Will still sell like Hotcakes though.

Will be interesting to see whether the diminished tow capacity impacts diesel sales. Just read a road review claiming it’ll be better, because of course diesel!

Ugh that sweepstakes... how many people making $100k or less can really afford a $63k truck? I seriosuly want one of these... but I make around $120k and a Sport S with a few options at $40k would be at the upper end of my budget. Mayyyyyybe I could stretch for a Rubicon if I trade in my Forester and daily the Jeep.

These will sell like a BRZ...or an 86.

And yeah Australia...sixty grand at least.

JL launches in a couple of weeks here...$ in brackets are the price increase over the JK...and the average punter will need to add another 3 to 5 grand for on-road costs.

Sport S 2-door (a) $48,950 (+$7960)

Sport S 4-door (a) $53,450 (+$8460)

Overland 2-door (a) $58,450 (+$8460)

Overland 4-door (a) $62,950 (+$8960)

Rubicon petrol 4-door (a) $63,950 (+$9960)

Rubicon diesel 4-door (a) $68,950 (new)

I only make like 30k a year and is some one handed me 100k today there is no way in hell I’d “take a year off of work”. Honestly who the hell can take a year off work, and come back to that job?

I’d pay off my house, car, and credit cards, that’s it.

Since the quoted prices include destination, about a $2500 premium across the board over the SUV version, whereas some people predicted (or should I say hoped for) a lower cost than the SUV.

Where the value gets lost for me is in the lower end Sport model, which comes in nearly at what you can get a TRD Off Road Tacoma, which comes with a lot more, other than the soft top.

other than the soft top

No small matter that.

I really think that’s the key. People want the convertible lifestyle, or at least want that option. I wish more would actually do it, but on the other hand on a really nice weekend  around here I see tons of topless, doorless Jeeps.

Maybe I’m just getting old but honestly it seems like trucks in general whether they be suv trucklets or not are vastly outpacing the price they should be. But honestly I just want lower end with a nicer stereo which they can obviously plop into the silly expensive ones because reasons.

I’m torn, because clearly there is a great deal of expensive engineering going into these, but yeah, trucks are now a cash cow.

I completely understand that is the entire point, honestly. Is it a $5k point? That’s the question. Are there Tacoma/Ranger/Colorado people wishing for a convertible pickup? Quite possibly. Or is it more Jeep folks wishing they had a bed?

Regardless, I’m not the target market for this. At one point, I thought I’d want one, but since trading in the Tacoma for the 4Runner, I’ve discovered I’m not missing the pickup bed at all. If I were to get a new Jeep, I’d be the rare bird that wants the 2 door.
