There is no such thing as a lifetime filter.

you realize I’m old enough to remember when cars were well past used up and junk before 100,000 miles? When cars had rust holes in their bodies when they were 3 years old? when they were on their 2nd valve job by 60,000 miles?
bitching about a filter getting plugged at 127,000 miles shows how utterly fucking spoiled we are.

BMW's design service life is 36 months, so I'd say that filter "exceeds expectations"
I like cars: Jim Spanfeller is one ugly motherfucker

Well, yeah, lifetime of the part, which ends when the part fails

Yes, you’re supposed to replace the car when the fuel filter clogs up.

Recently found out my DIsco’s fuel filter is non-serviceable and integrated into the fuel pump. So basically instead of replacing the fuel filter you replace the pump. Hooray!

Probably not a bad idea to change it although I would not recommend changing it yourself

Big mess? I don’t even know where the filter is on the Mini.

The access panel is under the rear seat on the passenger side, the filter is a press fit in the housing. There will be some spillage.
