The MB motor wouldn’t have been my first choice, but the end result is pretty impressive.

That’s a crazy choice, which makes it all the more impressive to me.

Right? I’d have gone the LS3 route myself but the engineering involved here is top notch.

Yeah, GM put a couple different corporate V8s ( including the SBC) in those cars, so presumably an LS would have been pretty easy.

A swap I could get behi nd...

Not the Benz engine I'd choose, but I love that he didn't do a boring LS swap!

Played out and easy though. I'm pretty sure my 8 year old daughter could LS swap one of these in a weekend. TTV12 is sweet.

Easy, cheap power. What’s not to love?

Any of the M156 series V8s would’ve been great too
.

So easy it's boring.

So an overly complex and expensive solution is preferable?

I think ol’ Teddy Roosevelt put it best; “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.”

Ol’ Teddy never modded Buicks and therefore couldn’t appreciate simplicity. But seeing as he
was
the first US president to ride in an automobile, he’d
probably be happy with the factory engine. In fact, he’d probably be scared shitless at its performance.

Different (piston) strokes for different folks, eh?

Absolutely.
