Im not a fan of CR’s methodology, especially as it comes to reliability [I couldn’t figure out the radio = unreliable?] , but here this is anyway.

Horrible, buggy infotainment shouldn’t impact how reliable a car is, but it should be considered in some way!

Man that video feels like it starts out as a diss-track against FCA.

I appreciate them using their reliability metrics as a way to drive change. IIRC they stopped recommending cars that didn’t come with traction/ stability control as standard and that forced Honda to put it on all Civics. If companies start getting dinged for shit infotainment, maybe they’ll start... trying. Because jesus tap-dancing christ there are a lot of early 90s UI/UX infotainment systems in brand new, freaking expensive cars. I get it. Designing that shit is hard. I’ve done it, poorly. HIRE PEOPLE WHO ARE GOOD AT IT!

He has the “Know-it-all” voice down perfectly.
That list though, I’m sure they left a lot of horrible cars off the list to get their “one vehicle in every segment”.

Haha sorry, I guess I meant 90s Garmin UI/UX. Resistive touchscreen, large cartoonish icons, massive lag.

Careful! I commented in the past about infotainment and unreliability and was beaten down....not even on the FP, but on Oppo. Apparently infotainment is the single most important aspect to new vehicles.

When I buy a phone I expect it to work as a phone and a toy . When I buy a car I expect it to work like a car with some infotainment thrown in.

Agreed. I chuckled when I read reviews of 4Runners and Tacomas, always getting dinged for their “small” info screens. I think they’re perfectly reasonable.
They should just put screens where everyone looks anyway, right smack dab in the center of the steering wheel where 90% of the people hold their phone and think you can’t see them.

Love me some Camry dent! We used to have a 97 Camry and I think 99% of that generation has at least one. Ours did until someone hit it while it was parked in the driveway and tore off the rear bumper.

Wahh this Honda doesn’t have a traditional shifter. Wahh this Wrangler is noisy even though it’s technically a con vertible.
I like CR, but sometimes I think they’re not super realistic to who’s actually buying these vehicles.

Ill be honest, while as a kid I was the one who was always checking out CR yearly issues. I used to think it was the bible. Then I actually started getting into the car world and pay attention to cars actually on the road. And the Wrangler has been rated like that forever.
A box on wheels with a design from the 40s , meant for offroad use gets bad gas mileage and has a lot of wind noise? Naahhh
One of the best blunders I love to see on their report is the Corvette. Yes the interior is tacky and chintzy but the C5 and C6 were consonantly rated as below average to poor in reliability. The LS1-6 and T56 would like to talk to you. The Autos arent bad just as good as the truck versions.

CR wouldn’t think much of my car buying habits, I own two on the list.
