I am i mpressed with the tools that can be brought to bear on a professional rebuild.

Packard built the Merlin engine and I recall a story where the chief engineer for Packard told his counterpart from Rolls that they had to re-dimension all the Rolls Royce drawings. Couldn’t build to our accuracy the gent from Rolls surmised? No, not enough accuracy for interchangeability..... This is some kind of engine for 90 years ago......
