Subaru’s killing it. Audi seems to be figuring out QC. Nice to see Mazda near the top (one of only four with “green” in all three cate gories ) - hope they’ll get some more sales from it . Lexus owners are less than satisfied? Interesting. Harder to meet high expectations, I guess. Honda keeps sliding...

That Ford assessment is pretty spot on.

Ford at the bottom? Psh!
*remembers the peeling paint all over his Fiesta ST....and the limp mode on hot days...and the mystery deaths where the car won’t work....and...fuck it.
Oh...right.

Subaru seems to be the biggest discrepancy for me. I drive them occasionally and don’t see the fanatical allure. I hear endless horror stories about head gaskets and crappy CVTs. Yet their repeat buyer rates and reviews are almost all stellar.
OTOH, they’re growing like wildfire even here in the Deep South where AWD is nice to have, but far from mandatory. Obviously they’re doing a lot right, but how much of it is objectively good (CR thinks so) vs being just a niche brand with excellent marketing and image management?

They do mention the WRX as an unreliable one in the line.
Maybe confirmation bias is just stronger with Subie owners?
They’re up 6 spots, so maybe they actually are improving as far a reliability goes . Time will tell.

Subaru makes all their cars the same other than the body
, it’s kinda hard to really screw that up. I think
Impreza/Outback/WRX covers everything
in their line up
. The Accent is the wild card here, curious to see how that goes.

I like the discrepancy between reliability and owner satisfaction with Tesla.

I'm not surprised to see Ford at the bottom. Given that they decided to prematurely end parts production for the Crown Victoria and have been making it a living hell to find a replacement ECM, I'm definitely not a Ford guy anymore.
