Nothing in media bothers me more than lazy period placement. My biggest is orange carrots in movies that take place prior to the 17th century (newest Robinho hood I’m looking at you) but my next biggest is using the wrong car for an era.. I mean fuck does a merkur look like anything from the 70's?? Even remotely? No.. no it does not. Lazy jerks.. especially given that just about every other vehicle in the shot does..

Ugh. This totally throws me off and leaves me looking for other errors, or just tells me right away that the director couldn't be bothered with quality and attention to detail.

This is a thing that irritates me as well. But if a movie does it right, it makes it so much better, regardless of the quality of the movie.
I recently watched a Dutch movie that basically spanned from the 50s all the way to current times, and they completely nailed the cars. The streets really looked like they would have back then. On the other hand I saw another movie that had someone buy a Ferrari 512TR and a 328 in the 70s, which showed a complete lack of attention in my opinion. They could have at least tried to find a 512BB and a 308...

I hate that stuff as well. It pulls me right out of it.

The first season of Narcos was riddled with vehicles from the wrong era. It opened in the late 70's, with Escobar in a YJ Wrangler.

The Americans on FX did a pretty good job, but once in a while they’d have a car from say 89 in 85.

Continuity and period correctness is a bane of my life.
There is a film called ‘633 Squadron’ (which never existed) on how a group of R.A.F. Mosquito bombers destroyed a prison, yadda yadda yadda.
While the squadron is ficticious, the event happened.
But in the film there was further inconsistencies in that there was a 1959 Land Rover 109 Station Wagon.
a 1951+ Fordson Major tractor.
Not to mention later a TACR 1964 Land Rover fire engine is seen.
Later a Mini can be seen as well as several other 1950s cars.
