I’d pay extra for that.

Delaware has an obsession with low number plates. Tag 20 sold at auction a few months ago for over $400,000. You can pass down plates to your family in your will. The lower the number, the more valuable. You don’t need any particular vehicle for a black plate, but they’re made to look like historic plates.

Oddly, I saw one on the way home from work tonight, around the same time you posted this.
Both my Prelude friends in Delaware have black plates on their cars.

I’ve thought about getting one, but frankly just don’t care enough to spend the money. They do look good on dark cars, just sort of blend in.

The one pictured is porcelain, stainless tags say the full name Delaware. You used to need a 5 digit number or lower to get one. You used to have to know someone to get a black tag (porcelain or stainless) But then the state got involved...now you can get one with 6 digits if the 1st digit is 6 or under I think, all you need is the $100 or so. 5 digits still draw a little money and are reasonably tough to get if you aren’t familiar with how to go about it. 4 digit tags start to draw some real dollars down to single digits. Tags numbered 1-3 I believe are state owned and I forget who has them.
I had 3 stainless 5 digits, one went with my E Class, my ex-wife has my favorite and oldest one which I got in 97 for a 92 T-Bird SC and I’ve had the one on my Transit since 2000...I first got that number on a 00 Subaru 2.5 RS Impreza I wish I still had.
