When -20 is a warm day, you know that you've been in Saskatchewan for too long.

It’s -8, but the sun is on me & I have a wind break. So it’s time for a sweater.

Like Manitoba, but minus the car theft rates.

I attended kindergarten in Winnipeg. I don’t remember a great deal, obviously, other than the snow and cold. I somewhat regret not having children, such that I’ll never be able to tell my grandchildren how I walked a mile to school every day in the snow.
But I did.

My area is the home of Nut Mountain, affectionately called Testicle Hill by some of the locals.

I'd wait for it to thaw out unless you have something with snow tires.

I feel your pain. With the wind chill, it was -40 this morning. I had to thaw ice off the furnace intake.

Jeez. I'm just happy it's only hitting -30 at night.

Don’t feel too bad. That’s basically the memory everyone has of Winnipeg. That or walking with a friend and randomly having some stranger walk up, say nothing, push a screwdriver through their friend’s eye, and calmly walk away.

Car theft rates are exclusively a Winnipeg thing. Just felt the need to point that out. After moving to Alberta I've had to teach myself to stop leaving keys in the ignition. Because back home, that's just where you keep them.

We had it pretty mild out until about two weeks ago. I don't think it has been above -15 since then.

Winnipeg is just one of those places that seems totally normal except for those few moments where shit goes batshit crazy. Having grown up outside of Winnipeg but still venturing in semi-regularly (hell, I was there six weeks ago) it really leaves an impression. I know more than a few people who grew up perfectly ordinary lives there, and would never even consider moving away, but they also know that there are places you definitely don’t want to be after the sun sets, and navigate around them. The screwdriver thing is a friend’s story, and I've only heard a handful of them, but it's still the sort of city where biker gangs shoot each other with RPGs and no one bats an eye. Only you'd never know it from just looking at the surface.
