After (semi-jokinly) posting the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , facw generously spitted through tons of Marktplaats ads. One of the finds sprung out:
This Talbot Samba Cabriolet, because it’s a quirky French hatch, a type of car that I strongly like. Besides that it’s a convertible, which is great for the kind of weather we are having in the Netherlands right now! It’s got 80hp so that should be plently powerful, right?

Having checked out a car for another Oppo yesterday, made me want to buy a classic myself even more. So should I oppo?

That’s a cool little thing, would be a blast to drive in the summer

Exactly my thinking, and even in Today’s weather it would be great . And it’s pretty low in ownerships costs, so it wouldn’t kill me to own it besides the Twingo.

I was curious to see if this was also built by Karmann l ike my Rabbit Cabriolet, and the European Escort Cabriolet, but it was actually designed and built by Pininfarina, who had done Peugeot’s other cabriolets since the 60s as well.
Also this is apparently the first year of that more powerful dual carb engine, it’s basically a muscle car.

I still think it’s a little bit too cold for driving with the roof down. I’ve driven a bit with the sunroof fully open last Friday, but that turned out too be pretty chilly xd

As it’s been for sale since September you should be able to get some money off the asking price.
The twin pipes might be optimistic.

The guy that is restoring the interior of my 205 (he specializes in 205 interiors, and owns multiple ones himself) also has a Peugeot 104. A 2 door. The Samba and 104 are very closely related. Which he’s had for a LONG time. I could ask for tips, for when you’re going to inspect it...

Haha yeah, it’s still a bit chilly, but nothing a beanie and a scarf can’t solve
I just checked, and it’s 14 degrees here in Leiden! Even more than I expected

Interestingly, the last Focus Cabrio was also designed and built by Pininfarina. So far as I know it's the only car they did for Ford

Yeah, I can definitely use that in my advantage. Convertible season starts soonish though, so I should make my move before that.
Yeah, no clue what’s up with those. They look pretty weird

Yeah I did find out that the 104, LNA and Samba share the same base.
I would definitely appreciate some tips!

Pininfarina was Peugeots preferred convertible and coupe builder for quite a while.
Yeah, a power to weight ratio of 1:10 isn’t too bad! When fitting this engine with double twin choke carbs they got this engine up to 93 or 112 hp! In racing spec with a slightly enlarged capacity they can even make 150hp apparently

It’s -2C here. I’m envious.
I just ordered some industrial strength windbreakers/rain coats from Lands End, so maybe I can drop the top or remove the doors o n my Wrangler earlier than usual this spring. Here’s hoping.

The weather is a bit crazy here lately though, a few weeks ago people were talking about ice skating, and now the terraces in front of cafes are filled to the brim with people drinking beers in the sun.
That sounds like a good preparation for removing the doors earlier. I’ll help you hoping!

DO EET! I wonder how expensive FIAT 126ps are there...there seems to be a lot of nice classics in the Netherlands, maybe I could find one in very nice shape there and get one of you folks to help me out with it! Then again, I imagine prices would be a lot higher than they would be in Poland...

Parts availability might be a concern but other than that the Samba is a quirky and unique little car

As it shares parts with the 104 and LNA, I’m not too worried about that. And as it has quite some recent maintenance, I think it will be good for a while. (It won’t see a lot of use anyway)

Well, interior bits and other odd parts should not be easy to come by but you’re right.

It was interesting around Munich today. Still a lot of snow remaining, yet there were many open top convertibles visible. It was very nice and sunny today.

Certainly. This one. You can see the Pininfarina badge in front of the rear wheel.

Oh yeah. America didn’t get that second gen, we got a different car entirely in 2008.
