I had to call the police early yesterday morning, an exchange of gunfire woke me and made me more than a little nervous.

Usually I’m not absolutely  certain it’s gunfire, vs firecrackers, but I’ve learned enough to recognize when a semi-automatic pistol is being used and something else is returning fire.

I hate my area.

oddly enough... gunfire doesnt even wake me... army barracks in my backyard... sometimes they get the heavy machine guns out

makes me want to play battlefield

damn..... in the 7 orso years ive lived here.. there was one murder... and im pretty sure they just meant to rough him up...

(there was also one girl who got hit in the head by a thrown bottle and some asshat bystander stole her wallet instead of helping her)

A teenage girl was killed in a hit and run about 20 meters from my front yard. Never found the killer. I’m somewhat glad I wasn’t home at the time, can’t imagine how horrifying that would have been.

Guns, poverty, no sidewalks, few street lights,  just a bad mix around here.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Domestic violence is depressingly difficult to escape.

Probably easier where there’s a stronger social safety net, but here in the U.S. we like to do our best to keep women in their place.
