Did you know: A radiator for a Jeep CJ configured for a small block Chevy swap is a pretty darn close fit for ‘53+ Studebakers? $180 from Jeg's vs. a $600 recore of the original. I'm not a fan of the look, but it's the least of the aesthetic flaws on this car. Next up: replacing the heater hoses. Another fun fact: this car has three (!) heater cores. One under the front seat, one behind the dash, and a smaller one dedicated to the defroster. It's only about a mile of hose.

I can't begin to imagine the dedication it takes to keep a Studebaker running. Keep it up. :D

That junction box or whatever that wiring is between the rad an d hood latch is pretty weird. Never seen the like.

May I ask what year and model you have?

Three heater cores, and probably still easier to get to all of them combined, than to do just one on a modern car.

When Studebaker ceased automobile production in the US in 1964 and Canada in 1966, they sold off the remaining stock of parts. As a result, there's still a lot of parts out there. They're a pretty robust and low maintenance car, too. The biggest issue they ever had was their tendency to rust like crazy.

I could see that regarding the rust. What's the most reliable solution for that?

Don’t drive in the salt! The biggest issue was the poor r ust prevention mixed with a complete lack of an inner fender in the front. This allowed roa d gook to get wedged into the fold at the rear edge of the fender and on top of the headlight buckets and they’d rot out quickly. For a car that spent its life in North Dakota and Minnesota, mine is exceptionally clean with the only real rot being in the front fenders.

Very lucky that's all the rust you've got. Planning on replacing the rusted fenders?

I’ve got a pair of solid fenders ready to go on, I just don’t have the time. :(
