It’s actually more of a fancy cover for a big hole in the hood of the Exocet. The VVT pump on the 2001 Miata motor pokes through the hood, necessitating an ugly hole. I decided to 3d print a cover with the car’s mascot (Bonsoir the Unisaurus). I also painted up some mesh and expoxy’d it in.
I made a rubber gasket so it doesn’t sit straight on the bodywork.
Print came out pretty cool.
Goodbye ugly hole!

Are you going standalone to control the VVT engine? I’m in the middle of a VVT swap into a 91 NA. I just have to figure out where to punch thru the firewall to run the 01 engine harness.

Are you going MS3x pnp? I am using an MS2 upgraded to MS3 pnp for an NA8. Figured the wiring out, but I will have to get the VVT box still.

Unisaurus is silly and menacing. I think this is a very appropriate mascot.

Yeah, I think it matches the personality of how I believe my cars should act.

Yep, MS3pro PNP for 01-05 is the idea. I figure that removes a lot of complexity.
