Time to meet the forgotten 14 which had the claim to fame of being R enault’s first transversely engined car.

Here we go.

Kinja'd!!!

It was compared to a pear which did nothing for its sales.

Kinja'd!!!

And had as one its unusual features a spare wheel mounted somewhat unusually. Less obvious was the fact that the wheelbase was different on each side, something of a Renault feature and resulting from the way they arranged the torsion bar suspension.

Kinja'd!!!

Other claim to fame: it was never made as an automatic.

Why the number 14? It replaced the 12 and couldn’t be called a 13 because !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The 14 was followed in its turn and in a somewhat backwards manner by the 9 and 11 because 15, 16, 17 and 18 were all taken. 19 was still free so that came next.
