My goddamn FedEx driver keeps not delivering packages and claiming I'm not home, when I WORK FROM HOME, so I'm escalating things passive-aggressively (UPDATED)

Kinja'd!!!

My wife and I have 3 cats, so we often order things like food and litter in bulk from Chewy.com, which is great, because as long as you spend $49 or more per order you get free FedEx shipping that often comes in 1 day. Except lately, our FedEx driver has been fucking with us.

Yesterday, a package from Chewy was supposed to be delivered. I got a “your package is scheduled for delivery today” email and everything. Then at about 4:45, I got a FedEx delivery exception email. The reason selected was “Customer Not Available or Business Closed.”

Except I work from home, and I was at home when I received this email. Nobody rang the doorbell, nobody knocked, nothing. I wasn’t looking out the front window at the time, but who knows if a driver even actually came to my house. And even if we weren’t home, that shouldn’t have mattered, because Chewy.com doesn’t ship cat food and litter with a signature required, and I’ve even updated my FedEx account online with delivery instructions to leave packages on the steps, so the box should’ve just been left on the doorstep!

This isn’t the first time this has happened. In fact, about 3 weeks ago, the exact same shit happened. That time, I called customer service to complain, and magically, the FedEx truck came by an hour or two later and dropped off the package. At the bottom of our tall-ass steps, with no knock on the door.

So yesterday, I did the same thing and called FedEx, and they said the driver would make another attempt. Except nothing happened. No package. Nothing. Today, I got another “your package is scheduled for delivery today” email. So much for that second attempt.

Not wanting to leave anything to chance, I said fuck it, and printed out 2 copies each of both the tracking email and the nasty note to the FedEx driver you see above. I stuck them to both my front door AND my garage door.

I have half a mind to camp out in my front window in the kitchen and watch for the truck so I can yell at this motherfucker who keeps not delivering my cat food, but I’m not going to do that shit.

MY CATS NEED THEIR FOOD YOU SHITTY FEDEX DRIVER!

UPDATE: THE PACKAGE WAS DELIVERED JUST NOW! But not without one more little annoyance.

I got an email this evening saying my package was delivered. No knock or doorbell ring, as per usual, so I went outside to look for the package, and there was no package! So, righteously pissed, I called customer service, got as far as entering my tracking number and explaining the situation to them, when the doorbell rang! Lo and behold, it was the FedEx guy! He must’ve seen my notes and rang for once instead of just dropping the package.

He probably also hit the “delivered” button on his little tracking gizmo while he was on his way in to my neighborhood, or something.

Turns out, he’s off on Mondays, and there’s some new guy who works the route on Mondays. I told him this was the second time this has happened where a non-signature package was marked as “customer not home” and not left. He asked if the last time was also a Monday. I didn’t know off the top of my head, but I just checked and it was January 17, a Thursday.

So I don’t know if maybe this new guy was also covering the route that day or what, but now my regular FedEx driver knows that shit will not fly with me. Ugh.

Life presents enough indignities to us every day, come on FedEx, just leave the damn cat food on the doorstep.

I had ups deliver a set of rims where i had missed two deliveries, made sure i was home the third day and the guy literally only had two of the rims in the truck and the other rims got pinged as a missed delivery.

That was the third try so i had to go to the ups depot to pick them up after borrowing a truck to have room

Not much point I expect. Probably not much point in not delivering unless they didn’t actually bother to go to your house at all (though I would think UPS would track their drivers and could identify if I driver didn’t attempt a delivery.)

That would consist of me camping out in the driveway with a folding chair, lantern, laptop and phone until the truck shows up. But it’s raining and I have to get to the gym. I’m going to Petco down the street first to get a couple cans of food just in case this piece of shit pulls the same stunt again.

The FedEx depot isn’t even remotely close to me so I’m dreading the prospect of having to go there. But if I do I’m going to raise holy hell like everyone else who shows up and get nowhere. At least it’ll feel good.

Consider yourself lucky. USPS recently failed to deliver a package I sent, then failed to return it to me. The email I got said they were returning it to some zip code that isn’ t mine and isn’t the intended destination. I tried to get in touch and had no luck.

Worst part of it all? The package was sent to Atlanta from the suburbs of Atlanta. A 20 -mile delivery and they couldn’t even do that right.

This may be just a coincidence but I noticed Fedex/UPS stopped their usual shenanigans after I installed a nest cam prominently visible aobe my front door. I do have them setup up for automatic “leave at door without signature” though but sometimes they ignore that.

We rent so I’m not sure I’d be able to install such an item. Also we have really tall front steps so the driver probably wouldn’t even notice the camera because they never bother to come up the steps and ring the bell anyway.

FedEx has done this to me more than once and checking the cameras shows FedEx doesn’t even show up at all when they post that! I found out from a FedEx employee that  they do this when they are running behind schedule to avoid getting into trouble for not delivering the packages.

I’ve had this happen with FedEx too. Granted, we live on the 3rd floor and it was a bookshelf we bought off amazon (which, as I found out later, was actually rather heavy).

First day its supposed to be delivered they left a slip on our door that said a signature was required and we could sign the slip and they’d leave the package. I signed it and put it back on the door. The next day I get back from work and again, no package.

The whole thing is, we have a leasing office right next to our building, and the driver could have easily left the package with the people in there. So we went online and got the package rerouted to our local FedEx location.

This was one of the few times I’ve ever been legitimately angry on the phone with customer service . There was no communication of any sort. The package did not require a signature from the beginning. I get that the package was too heavy and too dangerous to bring up the stairs alone, but we could have received SOME communication so we didn’t have to wait 4 extra days to receive a bookshelf that I now didn’t have time to put together. I would’ve been happy to pick it up the next day, if someone had just said something. I laid all this out pretty clearly on the phone, but the rep was very nonplussed, at least I got a complaint filed.

FedEx used to be my favorite package carrier. Now I just hate them all equally.

I ordered several thousand in car parts one week, mostly heavy stuff, intercoolers, a bottom end for an engine, a myriad of other odds and ends.

I needed the car to be together THE DAY AFTER scheduled delivery for a race. So UPS shows up the day of delivery, which I specifically took off work so I could help him take things up the driveway, but no, instead I hear a truck roll up, as I get my shoes on and about out the door he was driving off and left one of those “Sorry we missed you” notes.

I was livid, I called customer service and told them to send him back right now. They finally got him to come back, I didn’t lift a fucking finger helping him. I’m sorry, but if you are going to be that level of lazy, and almost screw me out of a bunch of stuff I need, I’m not going to make your job any easier.

I don’t understand why delivery drivers think they can be this lazy and just get away with it.

I was a driver for a food distributor and had multiple times a week where I was unloading a ton by hand on a hand cart or hand truck with no help. It really isn’t hard to move a few hundred pounds up a driveway. Or in your case what I assume is just under 100lbs.

I had the same issue at my home, I work from home but I would get alerts that FedEx couldn’t deliver because I wasn’t home. I then had to drive 15 minutes away to pick-up my packages in person.

This was happening for a while, to the point I never choose Fedex for delivery since everyone else got into our gated community with no issues.

Finally, I had no choice to bring it up because one of my vendors only used Fedex. I went to complain in person. A district manager was able to finally get the delivery access codes to get in. Something UPS, USPS and Amazon did from the beginning.

I recommend you contact them directly and find out why your delivery guy is doing that.

Question for you, TSP~

A friend of mine moved from NY C to Wisconsin to learn about beautiful dawgs & mushing them. Yes, she became a Musher...Volunteering herself to a place she belongs.

She now NEEDS a used vehicle to carry herself & large dogs. Because mushing is hard & a calling from her heart.

Please share this for reccomendations for a vehicle she can buy for $3500 , as I’ve talked up the Opposite Lock community...

My inferior knowledge has recc ’d Subaru :)

Krabby! I did a double take seeing your name here on Oppo:-)

If you want to write up your question as a post I’d be happy to share it on Oppo, but here’s my short answer to your question: at $3,500 it becomes a lot more about the specific car you’re looking at and less about the make and model. The right Subaru can be good at that price or it could be a disaster. My first line of thinking is used minivans. Lots of families out there who are selling their minivans once the kids are gone. A used minivan would have tons of space for dogs and people.

Not to doxx your friend, but if you tell us which part if Wisconsin they'd be looking in, we could probably look at their local craigslist and pick out a few candidates.

You can have items delivered to pretty much any FedEx office same day. For free. Most are open 24/7.

This is the route I typically take because it’s just easier for me. Online and no human interaction until I’m at the store. I started doing it for wine (Adult Signature Required) and expensive items but now I handle everything that way. Maybe there is one by your gym/falafel shop?

I’m usually always nice to service workers, and people in general, but this FedEx crap has been ongoing. Before this nonsense, I ordered a kitchen island cart that was like a 6 foot tall box and weighed almost 100 lbs. All I wanted was for the driver to ring the bell or knock so I could ask their help in carrying it up my tall front steps but noooo he just left it in the driveway, next to a damn melting pile of snow. I was pissed. Luckily all that exercising I do is good for something so I hefted the damn thing up the stairs my damn self, but a little courtesy would've gone a long way.

Well I’m not in Wisconsin anymore but here are some non-Subaru ideas:

WJ Grand Cherokee - the Quadra-Drive 4wd system is the best with front & rear LSDs but they’re all pretty good

R50 Pathfinder LE / Infiniti QX4 (these are the ones with full-time 4wd which is what you want for snowy on-road driving)

Mitsubishi Montero Sport with the ALL4 4wd system (I *think* this is on the 02-04 Limited but I’m not positive)

The regular 3rd gen  Montero is also nice but a lot bigger. Ditto for the Isuzu Trooper, on that one you want the TOD 4wd.

I HATE when Fedex is the carrier. There is always some reason I have to wait till they try to deliver 3 times and then drive across town during rush hour to pick it up at their facility. Fortunately, they are rarely the carrier for my stuff.

I can not stand lazy delivery drivers, especially since I was one, and if they show up to my door and mention how heavy it is I will always go and help them get it.

I’ve had some issues with FedEx. THREE times I’ve had to drive to their distribution center, which is 45 minutes one way for me. I do not have extra time in my day for crap like that. And every time it’s been something time-sensitive.
