We weren’t really close or anything, he was a couple years younger than me. Don’t think I’d really talked to him since I was in college, 2012. It still sucks, heard it was an overdose. Shit, I’m only 28, really weird to hear about people you know dying so young. Really unfortunate .

That sucks man. I’m not that much older than you, and have a few friends from college pass away from ODs or car accidents. It’s a weird feeling. What’s also weird is now, in my early 30s, the only time I see most of my family is at funerals.

I feel you mate. I’m a bit younger than you but I also had a friend from school die from an overdose.
Another friend from s ch ool has cancer and one had a stroke.
You just aren’t expecting it at our age.

Sorry to hear that. I’ve lost friends too, and while it’s never okay, it’s especially hard this young I feel. My condolences.

Yeah just really weird.. you sorta feel invicible one moment and wonder if it will happen to you the next.

And as you get older, there will be more and more people you know who passed away for one reason or another.
There are 2 guys I went to school with who committed suicide.
And my moms partner was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. My GFs mom was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and my ex father in law’s dementia has gotten a lot worse over the past year.
Death is a fact of life.

My condolences. My younger cousin hasn’t been heard from in a year, so I’m assuming the worst. My mom has had his kids for a few years now. He’d lived a hard twenty five years. Was stealing cars at ten, sent to military school after my aunt died which probably just made him worse. This opiate shit is an equal opportunity life ruiner. Doesn’t matter of you’re a college kid or a hood kid. It’ll end you.

Get’s worse as you get older. over 30 people from my high school graduating class have od’d. It’s really fucked and sad .

I am 38, and I have known 3 people in my peer group pass away so far. It’s a little jarring, as I think another one now has health concerns. Puts things in a sense of perspective and I expect more news like that to come more quickly in the future.
I made peace with my own mortality a long time ago, though. I just wish my body wouldn’t fall apart as I keep going.
