Has anyone else seen this info from somewhere other than Car and Driver?
I am pretty excited to hear that they think an XT Moniker is a given. I am not holding out hope for a manual, but I could seriously consider one of these as a future option.

It’s pretty obvious at this stage now the new Legacy has been released. Nice to see an Outback XT return, should make it a good family car. I test drove one 10 years back and I liked it.

I had not heard this, but if it’s true I think it’s pretty cool. My XT isn’t getting any younger. W ith the CVT this is guarenteed to have if it’s true, I probably wouldn’t be replacing my daily with the new version... but it would make a nice family car down the road.

I have an ‘08 XT with a manual and I love it. It would be nice if the new XT can keep to a similar spirit. The last gen Forester XT was a bit of a let down for me. So we’ll see how the new engine and chassis improve things.

I didn’t even know this was an option either. I am kind of having buyers remorse getting my ‘19 last week.

Should be more punchy than the Forester XT and the CVT-only transmission will neuter the experience but this is no WRX so it’s fine.

The Legacy is getting the 2.4 turbo from the Ascent, so it would stand to reason the Outback will as well.

That’s what they’re suggesting. I hear good things about that engine so far. Hopefully it works out well in the XT and GT.
