I haven’t tried it myself, but there’s a little pushpin icon on the board that can be used (I think) to put the stories up. When it went up the first time, a couple of silly things got pinned, then the Oppo rules and the sharing guide (?) and (at the time) a silly Evil Dead gif post I’d posted (I didn’t pin it) . Then somebody posted ttyymmnn in all three slots, then it went away - so when it came back, the kinja-bar was already ready to go.

Oh yeah, the pushpin opens a menu. You can add more windows, you can move them around, change the formatting, but you can’t get rid of them .

I tried to edit it too, but couldn’t get it to save. The pushpin icon is gone for me now, though. So either the feature is more broken than I thought, or maybe Kinja decided that I wasn ’t supposed to have access to it.

I like the idea of it, but I’m not sure how best to implement it. I think the rules handbook should be easily accessible, but having the thumbnail pinned permanently to the front page of Oppo might be a bit much. Right now, they can be found through the “rules of the road” tag, but I don’t think that’s a good use of tagging. Several of us have some posts about traffic laws that fit that tag much better , so maybe the O ppo rules posts should simply be tagged “rules” instead .

So what about that “skybox”? I would suggest using it to highlight the best posts of the day (or week) before they get pushed too far down the “more stories” hole never to be seen again .
