This is not a “I know you were planning on getting into an accident with me, but don’t, there’s a baby” sticker. This is a way of communicating that 1) the driver is driving safer than usual, because there’s a barely sentient flesh puppet in a car seat that probably has an open recall out, and 2) if there is an accident, please check for aforementioned flesh puppet.
Making tired jokes is bad, making tired jokes predicated on being obtuse is even worse.

Maybe they are just excited to have a baby. I would never put a corny thing like that on my car but the wife and I tried for 4 years to conceive, I pretty much tell everyone in ear shot we are expecting

I always view these placards and thos e family stick figures as a way of people flaunting their reproductive abilities. Basically the same thing as truck nuts.
There’s 7.5 fucking billion of us, no one gives a shit. Stop posting pictures of you kids on Instagram.

I think most people don’t know this ( including many with babies). I certainly had the wrong impression until a few years ago . Hopefully your PSA will help enlighten others!
As far as bad Carlin acts go:
I’d also really like to bludgeon anyone who complains about “near miss”:
Applying a stupid overly literal interpretation to a common and universally understood phrase does not make you clever.

Theoretically, it’s supposed to be for emergency vehicles to know there’s a kid in the car, but in fact it often ends up being misleading , as the sign is there even if the kid isn’t in the car. So, it often just ends up being an announcement that you own a child without serving any real purpose.

I kinda get it? When I have the dogs in the car I drive in a way that I would find very annoying. Every turn is slow, every slowdown is gradual... I’ve long thought a "sorry I'm driving like an old, pups in the car" placard would make me feel better but yeah no. Maybe it is the same with fleshy humans?

Idk. They sreve a purpose. The student driver sticker that stays on a car for multiple years is the one that grinds my gears.
I want these signs
And a custom yellow placard that says doggo in taco

The message doesn’t bother me so much as the fact that it’s taking up several square inches of valuable window space. Visibility is becoming a rare commodity on modern cars.

If you live somewhere where EMS workers work harder because there are kids in the car, then your kids are probably already fucked up from drinking lead every day. Save your money on the placard and buy a water filter.

Why do people get so worked up about this trivial nonsense? I can't think of a time in the last 10 years I've noticed one of these things. Where did the small plastic square hurt you?

Seems usually when I see one of these, it’s hung in some complete beater which happens to be driving like a complete asshat.
I generally steer clear of vehicles with those signs, for my own safety.

From my experience , the cars that have those signs put up usually seem to drive as if their baby is a human shield in the event of a collision.

Haha I guess human tend to stop standing up after the 8 or 9th time they fall down and don't generally have their heads hanging out of the window.

More like you just want them to stop fighting/yelling/mushing things into the seats, so you don’t mind if they’re tossed around the cabin a bit.
