Yesterday as I d rove past my local Hyundai dealer, I happened to see a Veloster N still in the shrink wrap pull out onto the main road for a quick drive. I didn’t get a picture, but it’s !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , with a discount.
This particular Veloster N is Performance Blue and has the Performance Package, which is the one true correct Veloster N configuration, at least until Hyundai comes to their senses and sells the i30 N with a panorama sunroof in the US, like they !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Anyway, as for this Veloster N, technically there’s only a $495 discount, and those other discounts are Employee Allowance Offer, Military Offer, and College Grad Offer, which I highly doubt anyone would be able to stack unless they’re a member of the army reserves who just graduated college and got a job at Hyundai corporate. B ut hey, I suppose someone could do that.

Kind of like what happened with the early release Stingers, at least here where some had a 10K ADM. Looks like Hyunkia dealers, who already have such a stellar rep, might not get this pricing thingy.

I think Kia dealers probably are worse than Hyundai? I don’t really have much experience with either, except in 2013 when I bought my beater ’99 Grand Cherokee at a Kia dealer’s used lot, and the experience was about in line with their reputation.

Either they’d haggle with you some and maybe end up knocking off some more than the $495 they’re offering online, or they’d say “the price is the price” and wait for someone else to buy it for $495 below sticker.
Even without discounts, it’s squarely in GTI and WRX price territory. It’s definitely faster than the GTI, and while it’s not awd like the WRX, does offer some trick stuff like the e-LSD and adaptive shocks.
So I’d call it a decent buy at or near sticker if you can live with the Veloster form factor. Personally I’d rather have a regular 5-door hatch shape with a usable back seat.

I don’t watch much local TV except for an occasional sportsball match, but when I see a Fitzgerald commercial, I’m like, “dude, Jack Fitzgerald, why are you still shooting these commercials and not chilling on a beach somewhere with your AutoMall millions?”

Look at that man though. He has lived his life on a car lot, and will die that way. There’s no way he’d be on any beach, anywhere. He’d be trying to sell used beach chairs to tourists.

They both have quite a rep in my neighborhood anyway, and not always the most palatable commercials either. Takes a lot of chutzpah to put ADMs on these cars.

I test drove the veloster n in san antonio 2 days ago performance blue with performance package they are selling for 34k with tax title and fee’s. To me I prefer my wrx. Veloster felt slow and the clutch had less then an inch engagement very springing peddle. Not worth any markup not even worth the 34k interior was all hard plastic.

In all my adverse weather driving experience gained during the 18 years I lived in Wisconsin, the only time I really needed a 50/50 lock was the couple times I got my Mazdaspeed 6 high-centered during misguided deep snow hooning incidents.
