Saw this on my commute this morning. A Nissan “Pathfinder Armada”..... I laughed because I’ve never heard of this and thought someone just stuck a “Pathfinder” badge on their Armada. Was the “Pathfinder” supposed to be a trim level of the Armada?

interesting... I thought Armada was its own thing. I don’t know for sure though.

Looking at Rock Auto, Armada and Pathfinder are two separate things. Not that it’s anything to go by, but it’s something... that starts to prove they are not just a trim level

The Armada started as  the larger version of the (Gen 3? ) Pathfinder...It was called the Pathfinder Armada for a year or two, then they just called it the Armada after that.

The Nissan Armada was originally called the Nissan Pathfinder Armada, much like the Nissan Altima, which was originally called the Nissan Stanza Altima and then quietly dropped the first part of its moniker after, like, one model year.

The original Armada was based on the Titan, while the contemporary Pathfinder was based on the Frontier.

Yep - this is it. The only reason I think think for them to do this is to increase sales of “ Pathfinders”.

Toyota was the worst for this for years with the Camry and Corolla.

The Armada was a trim level, they were always separate vehicles. Just for a brief moment in time, the Armada was called the Pathfinder Armada. Basically it was a common naming nomenclature that was abandoned.

Reminds me of the first time I noticed a “Tau rus X” a few years ago. I hadn’t been paying attention when they were new, and wasn’t sure that it was a real thing.
