So I am browsing the interwebs, looking for I don’t know what, and I stumble upon this picture. My brother, his 2nd car, painted in an unlikely BRE paint scheme in all its mid seventies glory.
If I don’t wake up tomorrow I die happy, too many memories and feels to possibly explain.

Unbelievable! And the golf club really makes the picture.

An MG painted in BRE colors? I thought that was only for Datsun. Great photo, I have one of me and my dad around this time, the clothes were great.

As I recall he bought it off a used car lot, the previous owner did the repaint (it looked fairly recent) but we never got a chance to talk to him about why he chose the BRE scheme, guess he just liked it. My brother had the engine rebuilt with a pretty radical street tune. Compression, cam, etc., but it blew up through some fault of the rebuilder, who drove around town in a Dino 246 GT and was kind of a notorious shyster who went out if business a few years later after multiple lawsuits. He would not do anything about it and having spent all his available funds on the rebuild my brother walked for a while and the BRE Midget never moved under it s own power again.
But his MG started my lifelong affair with slow little cars that are a hoot to drive around and it has been a great ride since.
I did get a very small measure of revenge for my brother, bought a lot of parts at the going out of business auction if the notorious shop, starter motors and piston sets for Triumphs, MGs, Volvos, etc. for poc ket change and sold them for several hundred dollars several years later when eBay became a thing.

If I did ever see it before I had forgotten it, the pic is 40 plus years old, though my brother must have saved it. We are both old British sports car guys to this day, but this was the first, I wasn't old enough to drive when this was taken.
