An inspiration to at least a couple generations of designers passed today. I met him back in 2003, even had him sign my copy of
Sentury
.

Oh, and he had a big hand in a little movie called
Blade Runner

he talks about working on

The passing of a giant, today.

Wow, I missed that. If anything, you're understating his legacy

Oh, I am,
for sure. Not sure that I can add much to stuff that others (who aren’t stuck in hotel rooms with a 6-year-old) have written.

What another bummer to end this bummer of a year on. As a fan of futurism, industrial/automotive design, and sci-fi he will certainly be missed. He also worked on Tron, Aliens, Star Trek, and Elysium. His style was so unique and easily identifiable .
My favorites of his were early US Steel work and the movie designs.

I actually like his amusement parks,
environments,
and interiors as much as his other stuff.

That’s what made him so interesting. He could design entire worlds and everything looks like it belongs.

His sense of proportion and scale was impeccable.

Oh Wow, I printed a lot of his work in the days. One of my former bosses was (still is, or was until just today ...) a friend/business associate of Syd’s. I never met him personally but knew him by his work and reputation... Said ex-boss worked with Syd on the production of A Future Remembered, not like a huge amount, but he WAS involved...
This is his website FYI: https://shop.motorology.com/

Here’s some of my faves from him
Also should be noted the guy’s taste in cars- in the futurist’s garage was a CT6 and a ‘72 Imperial.
RIP Syd. Your particular brand of late mid century futurism will be deeply missed .
