That’ van’s been sitting there for years . I could use some parts for Rusty, but I can’t see giving more than $500 for it.

If it runs, it’s definitely worth more than $500. In any event, clearly someone trying to cash in on #vanlife...

Yes, you’re missing the crack pipe that the seller is using to get high.

In what market? In the Midwest where they’ve all rusted away? I can’t see it. Tires are shot, (non-stock) rims are rusty, rust on the fender edges in a place where you never see rust on cars. Maybe I’m missing something, but that thing is squarely Malaise Era, would get about 2 gallons per mile, and I don’t know who would wanna buy it at any price. Still ... I’m going to call the guy because I can use the doors, the rear diff if it’s closed, and I have a recipient vehicle for the engine/trans if it runs and is complete.

I was thinking along the lines of gutting it with fire before stripping it for parts.

$2000 for a Studio apartment is a pretty good deal in any market.
I would just check the land lease though....see how long they have left on the 99-year property lease.

I can use parts from it, but not for two grand. Two hundo , maybe...
I’m going to call the guy. I’m not going to put any numbers out there except my own when he’s ready to actually get rid of the thing. Is that rust on the fender edges? Nothing rusts around here.
I’m waiting to see what Shop Teacher says about it. He knows these vans and any of that era where he lives long ago rusted away to nothing.

Honestly that thing looks like it’s worth more than $200 by a long shot to me.
It looks pretty good by Midwestern standards. If it runs it’s $1000 here.

If it runs and drives it’s easily a $3k+ vehicle in this neck of the woods in that condition.
$2k buys you one that barely runs and has so much rust it may not get you home around here.

Exactly....even after some new carpet, mattress, pillows, some Febreze and updated LED lighting you’ll still break even after six months.

With something that old, what it’s worth also depends on how much work was done to it and how well it runs.
And at 105K, the mileage is relatively low.
If it’s in decent all-around shape, it could be a Nice Price @ $2000.

In St Louis if it runs that’s easy a $1500 v an with as little rust as I can see in that pic.

If its running, Chevy vans have been getting some coin. There’s a pretty good market for them right now out west. The 4x4 models have started to go for stupid money.

For around here, two grand is a good price. WilliamsSW lives right near me, so he's seen the same horrors I have. What you're calling rust, is not considered rust around here. I rarely see these in this nice of condition.

You can pick these vans up all day for a grand, but they don’t have any rockers left. $2k for this one would be an easy sale around here.

That makes sense to me. But at two gallons per mile, you’d spend a thousand driving to Indiana.
I’ve owned Rusty two or three years now, and that van has been parked in that spot all of that time. I drive past it daily. See what happs.

Ah - I don’t pay much attention to that market, really. Surprised they’re that pricey, but it’s hard to get a decent running vehicle for under 1k.
Suspect this one doesn’t run if it’s been sitting so long, but it could very well be an easy fix, who knows?

Illinois, but yeah. I won’t be buying this van, that’s for sure.
Once you get that Ranger going, it'd probably sell for $3k around here.

Yeah, anything under a grand that runs, is definitely on borrowed time. I'm sure this one doesn't run, but even swapping a whole new engine is cheaper than bodywork.

I've only driven a few of them. They either had the 350, or the 350-2 V6.
