Not all did....
Also, drum and single circuit brakes (my mother discovered this and not i n a good way once), no airbags, crash resistance of wet cardboard, lockable brakes, drink driving and so on. And on.

A 2-door HB Vauxhall Viva with manual transmission was my first car (mine was blue) , bought off my father. 1159 cc of raw power in that engine - not. I read an article a long time ago about how Vauxhall kept them under-tuned so they would be longer lasting, so definitely not a power-house. 4-wheel drum brakes, no heater... It was a different time!
