I have quite a large record collection, all inherited/passed down to me. I have my dad’s records, as well as his best friend’s records, and I have my uncle’s records. What I haven’t had in over a decade, is a working turntable. I think in 2015 ... Give or take a year, I asked m y wife for one that could also send the music to a computer to captured digitally. I asked for a Denon, but my wife did see research, and found it to be poorly reviewed, so she got me this Aud io-Technica unit.
Well, when I went to hook it up, something was wrong with my big stereo, and I wasn’t getting any sound out of it, on any input. Frustrated, I left it be, and then life happened. Next thing I know, it’s been sitting for years. Saturday night, I finally cleared all the junk in front of the stereo. I decided to unh ook everything and redo it all. Works like a charm now.
Ots nice to have tunes in the basement again. I’ve been digging through the record collection. Lots of good stuff. A LOT of blues, but I love the blues.

Nice! My vinyl playing setup doesn’t come close in sound quality.
And is it bad that I immediately knew that the record on the turntable was put out by MCA?

Nice! I have the same one. An auto return would be kind of nice but I can do without

Hhhnnnnggggggg you have audio-technica in your stereo and I dooooooonnnttttt!!!! My inner audiophile is jealous. I used to work for a radio station and I would go into the test room when we didn’t have a DJ and use the station turntables to listen to vinyl. They had a pair of Technics with an excellent mixer and crossfader. I would listen to old albums for hours while studying down there after midnight.

Most of these are 60's and 70's. My dad was an early CD adopter.

I would do terrible things deeply love to have a large collection of Blues on vinyl. You could post highlights of the collection to make me insanely jealous .

I picked up a refurbished Technica SL-235 and a Parasound CA220 from a record store a few years ago. Love listening to old Ska and rocksteady records on it.

I had honestly never heard of them, but my wife is the queen of research. S o when I asked for a turntable, she took it upon herself to find a good one. When I was putting it together and setting it up, I was wildly impressed by how nicely built it is. It came with a 45 adaptor that's made of a machined piece of aluminum. All the buttons and switches feel so... Nice.

I’m very impressed by it, I must say.
Nah, that’s not bad :)

I’m really happy with it so far. Not that I have much to compare it too. I had a cheapo LXi turntable that I had inherited from my uncle years ago. This is the only other one I've had.

Oh man, it's not all blues, but it’s a lot of blues. A LOT! I will be sure to post highlights for you :)
The record spinning in the top shot is BB King, “To know you is to love you. ” Weirdly, the title track to the record, is on side two.

I’ve recently become reacquainted with labels because of my fine piece of audio excellence.

I dunno if you’re looking for any more, my wife and I have inherited about twice what you have and we're in the process of listening to them all and paring it down, so we were just gonna donate them or something but if you'd be interested I know you're somewhat local. So far all I can remember off the top of my head is a lot of Eurythmics.

Fact: New turntables have AUX outputs, not PHONO outputs. If you put it in PHONO, there will be (almost) no sound at all

This turntable has a switch on the back, that turns a built-in preamp on or off, depending on type of input the receiver has.

I'd love to go through whatever you decide not to keep. You're in Elgin, if I recall correctly?

I remember my grandparents having one exactly like that when I was little in the late 80s. Doubled as a TV stand for a 15" CRT. Spent many an hour sitting in front of that thing rescuing
princesses an
d getting laughed at by asshole dogs.

Nice looking turntable! Reminds me of the Technics sl1200s I used to use when I was a radio dj in college. I’ve got a decent size vinyl collection from my dad that’s mostly 70's jazz and prog rock, you’re reminding me I should actually get the cartridge I’ve been thinking about getting so I can start listening again

St Charles is closer. I'm just a quick jaunt down North Ave, in Villa Park.

Gotcha, I'll keep you in mind whenever we finish going through it all, we're about a quarter done I'd guess so probably a couple months still.

Yep while yours might be Audio-Technica and sound good mine is Magnavox. Even the brand name means “great sound”! I have it on good authority that it’s the world’s finest home entertainment instrument!

Tonight I listened to some Allman Brothers, some Beatles, and some Who. This is next on the docket.
