Have family over from another state borrowing the Accord so have been driving the bimmer to work, the commute is too short (like 4km) so my mechanical sympathy struggles to deal with the cold oil temps (N54 needs about 10minutes of driving at least to warm up). Family meet up was down south in Merimbula, was very strange to have all 3 cars down there as we went at separate times. Unfortunately Christmas traffic and double   demerits took the fun out of the windy roads down there. Friend also opened up a new cafe in sydney called Benzin that anyone visiting should go to as its becoming a bit of a hub for car clubs.

Not wanting to shut the M3 off without it attaining its operating temp is one reason I don't daily it.

My last trip to Vic a month ago landed me a ticket doing 114 in a 100 zone at 2am going to a conference in mornington peninsula. No thanks. =p

I would hope your NA v8 warms up quicker but I did notice when I was doing short commutes for work a few years ago the oil would go a milky colour as the water wouldn’t evaporate. Looked almost like a blown headgasket. That was the year I also paid for the most repairs on the car... The extra cost of a daily is worth it for these reasons....

When it’s cold out, it takes a good while probably at least a good 10 minutes to fully warm up. Summer time isn’t really a problem, but on wet cold days, it feels like it’s forever.

I know having two cars is excessive, but just for peace of mind, I think it's worth it.
