Need some input on what I’m looking at here. Changed the oil in the 2014 T&C yesterday, and noticed the bottom of the transmission was a bit damp. Definitely fluid from the car, pretty sure it is ATF.

Here are a few pictures, looks like one of the gaskets is leaking.

Is this a normal problem area?

I checked fluid level and it was normal, and there aren’t even oil spots on the ground where it parks.

It was dirty due to road grime , but pretty sure it was red.

My 2012 T&C does not have that issue

Maybe check if the bolts are torqued to spec

Have you had the trans serviced recently?

Looks like the pan is leaking from what I can see there. If it was serviced recently, someone fudged up on the RTV application/bolt torquing. If it wasn’t?

No service recently at all. Agree that the rtv looks fudged. With no noticable loss of fluid should I just monitor the fluid level, or should I bite the bullet and remove the pan and replace gasket /RTV?

My parents  are driving it from Houston to Santa Fe tomorrow morning.  I'll check the bolts today to make sure they aren't loose, but was planning to let them take it.

Check for wetness around the cooler lines. If they are seeping, it will run down the trans behind the solenoid pack and make it look like the pan is leaking.

A bad axles seal will also make a mess everywhere.

Otherwise, I’d drop the pan, change the filter, and put it back together with new fluid/filter and RTV.

No wetness around the cooler lines at all. Checked the pan and two of the bolts were just a tiny bit loose (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 turn). Still no drips on the ground, and only minor signs around the edge of the pan after I cleaned it off yesterday.

My parents left today for NM, and I’ll be joining them on Saturday. I’ll check the fluid level again, but don’t anticipate any issues. I’ll earmark a weekend soon to do the pan, fluid, and filter.

Thanks.

Good luck. Hopefully loose bolts is all it was.
