I don’t understand why these exist. Are people’s masculinity really so fragile that they intentionally buy wildly less practical/useful vehicles? The Caravan we had before this had so much more space both in the seats and the trunk.

And in the US apparently:
Most of these must be fleet sales at this point, such as Bman76's rental.
Meanwhile, in Canada:

I believe this was effectively the replacement for the short wheelbase Caravan, which was discontinued with the introduction of the RT platform vans for the 2008 model year. It also took over some dutie s of the Magnum and original Pacifica to a degree.
Not saying that it makes sense, but that was Chrysler’s justification back in 2008.

I can’t believe these are still sold new. However, they are really cheap and decently useful without being a minivan.
EDIT: It’ s your new rental. Gotcha.

What an upgrade from the Trans Am in terms of age! Though it may not be the best car in the world, a family car is a family car. I hope it lasts for the years to come, and I’m glad you found something that works for you! Why not a Highlander, though?

They also throw a ton of cash or incentives on the hood of these to move them off the lots. I always see stupid cheap adverts for these, especially leases. Some people just need transport. And it’s tough to beat a sub $200 payment for a new car.

True. Chrysler is basically using this now as their entry level vehicle, taking the place of incentiv ized Neons and Calibers.

They are a minivan......
They actually took the Caravan’s place as the swb 7 seater!

As much as I hate denial minivans, the Journey in GT trim is one I could actually consider buying.
not for canada - australian in disguise

Canada is basically the reason why Dodge still exists. We’re even getting the new Voyager as a next gen Grand Caravan because we hate buying any minivan without a badge that says “Caravan”.
What a silly country this is.

everyone that rates vehicles says these are trash, too bad, i’ve always thought they looked like an entry level jeep and i like the idea of having an suv that looks different than all the cookie cutter offerings out there, but alas i will have to defer to the majority

The Dodge Journey is well on its way to becoming the 21st century’s equivalent of the Volkswagen Beetle - sometimes it changes, but it’s one of the cheapest forms of transport you can get, parts are literally everywhere, and it’s overstayed its welcome yet it still sells.
