Kinja'd!!!

Us southerners aren’t equiped to handle this. Literally.

I had to use a plastic cake cutter to get it off. How come the car also parked on the grass to the left was fine?

Obvious “your car is cooler” joke

The darker tint absorbed more radiant heat from the sun light. Sometimes one side of a car will be frosted and the other clear because of the sun light.

Depends on which side the wind is coming from. It's not uncommon for one side of a vehicle to get frosted over while the other side doesn't. And sometimes cars can act as windbreaks for other cars.

Well, that’s what I came here for. I guess I’m doomed to do this dance with a cake slicer  every day for a while.

Pro tip - if it’s not too heavy, just use the windshield washer fluid sprayer to get rid of it.

That’s about the time you find out that in many places South, using washer fluid that doesn’t freeze itself is something that happens only if you seek it out.

In Southern NM, I have a hard time finding 0 degree rated washer fluid much of the year. Even the truck stops only car the 32+ stuff most of the year. I have to buy it in bulk when I can find it. And this is in a place where it drops into the 20's overnight with some regularity during a month or two per year.

A credit card usually work well enough in a pinch.

Does your car have washer fluid? Most of that will melt ice.

Just use an old credit/debit/gift  card. Works even better than an ice scrapper for light frost. I keep a few in my purse.

meteorology dew point blah blah. another thing that can make your windows frost over easier is how warm your car was inside and out when you shut it off and sealed it up. something about the temperature gradient when the outside temp passed through the dew point into freezing temps.

Credit cards work in a pinch. Especially if the car has been running for a bit.

Jeez you really do need a Canadian Tire down there.

Things like whether the car was driven the previous day, if the car is parked in shade, or under cover, even window tint can have an effect.

I would imagine being from a southern state your defroster is as unused as a turn signal in a BMW, but just start your car and put it on full defrost and the windshield should be clear in about 5-10 minutes.

If you use a pizza cutter, you can cut it down to more manageable sizes.

I always steer clear of the 32 stuff — I park outside in AL and even with heated washer nozzles, it doesn’t matter if the reservoir and lines are frozen (nighttime lows are sub-30 already) . Usually the engine has SOME latent heat for about 24 hours to prevent that, but sometimes I go 3-4 days without driving my car.

Take an old blanket or sheet and put it over your windshield at night, secure it by closing the ends in the front doors.

Alternately, use a plastic spatula instead of the pizza cutter. You want a flat(ish) plane to work that ice over.

Indeed.  I'm disappointed that Amazon didn't have 0 degree or better stuff on prime last time I looked.  I wouldn't mind not having to buy it in bill locally when I can find it (or remembering to buy some when I'm in the northern part of the state).

LOL, i live in phoenix az and bought an ice scrapper a few years back on sale for $2.00, it has been used only a few times but it has been worth every bit of that 2 bucks!

What use would I have for a single Cana di an tire, much less all 4? It snows maybe once a year here.
