When I started at my current company most people didn’t have name plates, and some of the people who did played games with them. It made it super annoying for me to learn people’s name because just being told someone’s name doesn’t make it stick for me. If you can actually see how they are when you walk b y that’s much more helpful, but obviously you can’t do that if things are wrong.

Generally speaking there are no such name plate shenanigans at my company. The only issue we have is certain employees decide their nameplate isn’t exactly how they want it, but instead of coming back to us i n HR and asking for the plate to be redone, they just refuse to display the plate at all. Oh, and they’re the ones who tell us what to put on the plates in the first place so the only reason it doesn’t say what they want is because they told us something different when we first asked them what to put on the plate.
