I forgot Mini even made the Clubman. Rumor has it that the next gen Clubman will be an suv after mini sales have been falling. This would make the Clubman Mini's largest model and I believe the brand's first suv. Also, Mini will be bringing back the manual transmission in 2020.

The news I read is that it would become a crossover which leads me to believe it will still slot in under the Countryman which Mini brands as an SUV.

Also, this news is dumb. Barn door wagons are wonderful.

A crossover maybe, but Mini will never make an SUV in traditional terms. The Countryman is already considered a crossover so I don’t see where the Clubman would land in the lineup.

The news varies from sources. Also, I agree that this would be a dumb decision, though it may boost sales.

My only hope is that they end up doing a Volvo Crosscountry style crossover. A rally wagon would be pretty cool.

The Clubman could be a larger and more traditional crossover, since nobody really thinks of mini when buying a crossover.

We could only hope.

The original, sensibly sized, 3-door Clubman, that was also cheap to build, since it was merely a stretched Hatch , sold about 47,000 units in the US alone during its run, the new gigantism affected Clubman has managed 30,000 from launch, almost half of them in one single decent model year, and BMW’s conclusion is that the car needs to get even bigger and stray even further from its roots?

Unfortunately, BMW will do anything for sales.

I think it would be interesting to see a smaller Mini crossover than the Countryman. I don’t see how they could get much bigger, the Countryman is already large and then they would be encroaching on BMW’ s market.

Well, the Countryman is only a subcompact so I could easily see the Clubman being a compact crossover to go against Honda CRVs and Toyota RAV4s . The only problem would be price, since Minis are overpriced. But, I would love to see a 300hp Compact Clubman John Cooper Works.

funny you should say that, as if it’s strange that companies are in business to make money.
