I'm curious as to what you are building? Please elaborate.

This is a “production” revision of my arduino-controlled automatic length counting electric yarn skein winder. It’s really more of a public beta edition... I’m selling this one to a friend who will likely use it heavily, and I have revised a lot of the wiring and layout to make it both more durable and more user friendly... If this goes well, I’ve hopefully simplified and ruggedified it enough to make semi-bulk production feasible. I’ve got a few revisions to make to the PCBs, but modern short-run PCB production is so cheap I’m not too concerned about it.

Depends on whether you aesthically accept  the concept of ‘ugly but effective’!

I love what the Arduino controller has allowed people to make.

The IDE is really what did it, I mean simple, inexpensive development boards for cheapo microcontrollers are great, don’t get me wrong, but making the coding side accessible and providing extensive libraries is what really nailed it.

My kids do a better job programming the Arduinos then I do.
