Turns out a luminum shock bodies suck in the winter. They wick heat away so well that they are ice cold and the fluid never gets warm enough so the ride is punishing. I’ m going to wrap my shocks with foam to warm them up. Yes, really.

Kinja'd!!!

I hit them with my temp gun after a 20 mile drive and they are 30 degrees and it’ s 36 degrees outside. They are seriously rocks.  These are already valved a little stiff on bound but in the winter they are bordering on brutal.

Yeah, aluminum is way more conductive than steel.

i mean, yeah. my surprise is how viscous it keeps the fluid. I’m these teams it would take some serious sick travel to give me a summer ride. i wish i had the tools to repressurize these so i could tear into them and re shim and put in a lighter fluid

hey, speaking of aluminum-- I never realized the I6 Duramax I am drooling over was cast in aluminum.  Now I’m wondering what it weighs...

How long does it take to swap the shocks? Maybe you could have a summer set and a winter set.
