Yes I know this game came out almost t hree years ago and I’m just now getting around to playing it. You want to fight about it?

I won't judge. I pre-ordered the ME3 collector's edition and don't think I've played past the first hour. Should probably get around to that one day.

Lol. I have like 100 games in my library and I think only three of them were bought within the launch month.

It’s not really ‘ambient’ music, but when this song started playing.....man....you just knew you had to play the other parts of the game.

I played post-patches and Andromeda was okay.....but the original trilogy is much better, including sound design. If you haven’t played the original yet, at least check out the OST for it. I think gameplay wise, andromeda is loads better though. Original trilogy was built on some jank-ass adaptations of other engines and Frostbite, while a bear to program, is at least a capable engine.

Unpopular opinion: I liked ME:A better than ME2. Certainly far from flawless, but I think the pile- on was more than a little unfair.

For as much shit as this game got thrown at it, I seemed to have a lot of
fun biotic Lifting fools into an Overload then skeet shooting them with a Crusader shotty for good measure. Then doing donuts on their corpses in my SIX WHEEL DRIVE TANK.
I guess everyone else was too busy whining about faces.

Mass 1 in particular is super janky. And no option to romance Tali. But it also has the best RPG elements and storyline of the series.
Mass 2 tightened up the combat and introduced some of the best characters in the series, but gets flack for dumbing down the RPG side of things.
Mass 3 was the most visually appealing and introduced the super fun multiplayer mode, but is basically a meme now because of the ending. Which, IMO, is more than made up for with the Citadel DLC which is probably the best DLC ever. Javik the Trollthean is pretty great, too. And the entire Tuchanka arc.
That’s a lot
to try to live up to.

Apparently this game wasn’t as good as the original trilogy . Well I never played those and had a decent amount of fun with this one. Not sure on replay ability but it was fun except for a few broken missions. Also the soundtrack worked really well.

I got my start on 2, and can’t play 1 due to how crude it is. I think the inventory system and weapon mods were poorly executed and made it feel like “More of an RPG, but a crappy RPG” instead of the refined “Shooter with heavy RPG elements” of future installments. I can’t say the “RPG elements” of 1 were a positive , but I did enjoy the overarching story of 1 more than 2. 2 was very character driven - in a good way- compared to the political dive and world building that 1 a ccomplished.
3 was the best of both worlds though, especially with the citadel DLC.

Ooh you gotta play the trilogy. It’s one of the most well-crafted scifi universes out there and worth it just for the lore alone.

The facial animations in the original trilogy were never amazing anyways. I don’t know why people were so hung up on that. It’s a fantastic game otherwise

Also the combat it Andromeda is hobbled compared to the otheres. In the original trilogy you can pause the action to survey the a rea and then actually tell your squad what powers to use on whom.

Oh no that sounds too complicated.

No it was wonderful. You can set up combos so easily. Makes the combat more exciting and makes you feel like you're actually part of a team.

Shooting the shit with your squad is half the game, true, but as you said the animation wasn't much different than Mass 3, which looked fine.

I like the characters in Andromeda a lot, the races were given a lot more personification. All the Krogan in the trilogy were the same grumpy and emotionally repressed assholes, and then here comes Drack and Vorn making me laugh basically through his entire loyalty mission.

Drack
is just Too Old For Your Shit which, as someone on the early end of the Millennial generation, I’ve begun my transition into.
Don't sleep on Grunt, though. His hospital escape was some of the funniest writing in the series.

If it helps you can just play it as a shooter as well, you don’t have to do it like EssExTee described.
But yeah, the trilogy is
amazing
. The dialog in the first is kinda cheesy at times, but aside from that it’s one of the most beautifully crafted fictional worlds in all of gaming.

I almost bought it on sale a while back but I was waiting to see if I was actually going to ever get around to building a PC.
