Necessary? No. Fast? Hell no.
Super cool? If the Cool Wall was still a thing this would be in the freezer along with the DB9.

yeah, the IDI 7.3 isn’t guaranteed to go “500k” miles. at 150k it’s about another 25-50k from guzzling a quart of engine oil every 300 miles or so.

or there’s more wrong with it. the IDI (non-Powerstroke) 7.3 will run a long time, but bulletproof it ain’t. much above 150k miles, cylinder taper sets in causing blow-by and the rapid increase in oil consumption; the head gaskets aren’t that great and you’ll get leakage out of the oil drainback passages from the heads running down the sides of the engine block, and injection pumps only last about 80,000 miles. Oh, and you’d better hope to hell the previous owners kept up on the supplemental coolant additives or you could be in for pinholed cylinder walls.

Great... until you have to park it in a normal sized parking spot or you get high centered going into an underground parking garage.

It’s no worse than a long bed crew
cab dually
of the same year.
I bet the chassis and wheelbase
is the same, it just has the
extra-long bed instead of the crew cab.

Imagine how much better it would be with a flatbed!
