I have seen multiple cars every day, at the car wash, go through with these stupid, garish, tacky, fake looking brake caliper covers. I decided to look into the company and they seem pretty common. Now, I thought at first that maybe I was a bit too quick to judge. 20$ for some bright red covers that can be discarded if they get old or break or the next owner doesn’t like them. Surprise surprise, they retail for OVER 200$ and claim to help with everything from brake dust to brake temperatures.
...How? How can these A) Possibly do any of that? and B) Actually be a thing non-car people spend their money on?
Am I going crazy or are these as fake and dumb as the “bolts” on them?

That’s stupid. Who would spend money for this? Spending $200 on what is obviously a scam. No one actually believes that they improve braking do they?

I have a rule (that I totally made up), which states that if you can see more than two of the same logo from a given angle, it’s tacky. That goes for the interior as well as the exterior; last thing I want to see when I open the door is the same logo repeated on the door sill, the floor mats, the seats, the steering wheel, the dashboard, the gauges, the shifter knob, the key, the keychain , the infotainment screen... *eyeroll*
Anyway, yeah branded caliper covers are in clear violation of this rule. And frankly, plain covers aren’t much better, aesthetically. I’d rather just see the calipers themselves.

i’d think they would retain more heat, which would make then a negative. CP at any price. You couldn;t pay me to put those on.....welll you could, but I ca n’ t imagine them ever paying me the money it would take for me to do it.

I think they would do the opposite by reducing air flow and causing more brake dust buildup because of it. I think they look bad too because that’s not what a high performance caliper looks like anyway. They aren’t perfectly flat and round like that.

My dude. We have put these on a customer’s Mercedes cl550 before. We didn’t charge them since it took maybe 20 mins... Then they came back because they won’t stay tight and start to rattle.... We didn’t charge them because it only took 10 ..... THEN THEY CAME BACK BECAUSE THEY STARTED RATTLING AGAIN....
I charged them $45 and told them that if it happened again we’d fix the problem permanently by removing them.
Haven’t seen their cheap butts since.

If you spend 200$ on them, they’ll put whatever you want on them.

Soooo ... do they make these for a Ford Fiesta with rear drum brakes? I think these would update the look and definitely make it sportier.

People in my expedition Facebook group bought these on purpose. They actually think they looked good. One woman was like well Ford put them on the explorers so I wanted ones for my expedition. I was like Ford actually paints the explorer st calipers. Those aren't covers you idiots

I don’t get how they get away with charging 200$+ for them. I can get new rotors and pads for my ST with that kind of money. Hell, for economy cars, you could probably get an uprated rotor and pad that would help a lot with stopping for that price. And SUVs cost nearly 300$ if not more!

On the one hand I’m surprised some one would go to a professional to have something so simple installed. On the other hand this product would be purchased by some one who doesn’t know how to change a flat tire.

This is the best description I have ever heard for caliper covers. You sir, deserve MANY stars for this.

Yeah the center caps on my wheels also break this rule. I have yet to do something about that... At least the lo gos are small and relatively inoffensive.
