How anyone could see enough to fly that thing is a mystery.

Now, compare and contrast with the F-35. Notice that there isn’t a single steam gauge, not even an artificial horizon or a compass.

That’s my wallpaper on my work PC because I like to pretend I’m piloting an A-12 juking Soviet SA-2s over the skies of East Germany instead of piloting a desk juking program meeting requests

Remember the line from Hunt for Red October about flying in a plane with no windows? Yeah.

That's a cockpit I know! I work on the PCD (primary cockpit display) program for that airframe.

Cool! Got any top secret stuff you can share?

Sure, there's a good chance I probably touched that display in the photo. Otherwise, no good stuff to share.

As I said in my original comment, I was surprised that there wasn’t a single analog gauge in that plane. Had a long talk with an F-35 driver at an air show a couple of years ago. Really sharp guy, but not the gung ho fighter jock with the F-22. He said that if everything goes tits up there’s a battery that will power the screen basically long enough so you can point the jet towards home and punch out.

I mean their heads w ould have been a little higher up than in the image. Not a ton, but it looks like they (barely) should have been able to see over the “dash”:
Somewhat better side visibility too

Strikes me as good as long as the computers aren’t crashing randomly, F-22 style. I find that cover on the flight stick weird and creepy though.
