Now these bad boys won’t fail me for not being covered. (they just have to be on a dedicated switch). Apparently a governor’s son likes hunting and was having issues getting his truck passed for inspection due to having all sorts of off road lights.
It’s nice having a vehicle I can just drive up to get inspected and not have to go through a whole inspection prep process. I even got nervous and measured my bumper height. #Le gulDe zul

California might have difficult smog laws, but thank baby Jesus we don’t have vehicle inspections. We leave inspections for the police to do!

Smog testing is very concerning. I mean I get the purpose, but wow I'd be screwed. Although maybe the 250 is grandfathered/didn't come from the factory with any smog bits? The inspection stickers are a target for local cops - I swear they can spot an expired stick from a mile away.

There’s a couple things about VA inspection like you mentioned that are a bit annoying, but I’m sort of glad it exists.
The amount of shitboxes on the road in MD is a lot since they don’t have a yearly inspection.

After seeing my cousin and her husbands choice of vehicles, i would agree.

This is true. The inspections have gotten more lenient in some stuff and people got wise to shady shops finding a reason to fail a vehicle to make a quick buck. The most common one I heard if was the torn wipers which was then a $45 replacement.

Man, you should check out Ohio. Shit's bad.

Ohio doesn’t do annual inspections right?
Funny enough, I have a friend that lives in Cleveland who does some side jobs at a small shop. The amount of rusty & sketch repairs he sees on cars is hilarious.

I went from an inspection state to California and I found smog stuff a whole lot easier to deal with than state inspections.
For one, you don’t need to do a smog test until the car is 5 years old, which means if you buy a new car, it will be years before you have to do a test.
And when you do a test, it’s only once every 2 years. Most cars within 15 years or so old don’t even go on a roller, just a quick connector test.

OMG I’m travelling for work Northeast of Cleveland for the second week of 4 and the amount of sketchy vehicles I see here make me wonder. I know they have state inspections, but how they miss some of the cars I’ve seen is beyond me.

We’ve got no insp ections period. There's e-check which is only in 8 counties in the Cleveland-Akron area, but they only care that you have a catalytic converter essentially.

Nope. We have no state inspections. Only inspection we have is for e-check in eight counties around Cleveland where they do OBDII scanning and visual confirmation of catalytic converter p resence and out of state VIN inspections to make sure a car isn't stolen. Nothing else.

OK that explains it. The rust here is so pervasive.
