After Honda beat Ducati 2 out of 3 years in World Superbike with that bike, showing the advantage of the rules V-Twins had in the series, it forced Ducati to give in to 4-cylinder manufacturers in World Superbike who wanted to go to 1000cc displacement.

Of course you can’t run twins and 4-cylinders in equal capacity without restrictions on the 4-bangers, which mean big air restrictors on the Japanese bikes.

However, this allowed them to showcase race bikes closer to the actual showroom bikes they were selling, instead of the 750cc bikes that didn’t match what they were selling in the showroom .  Marketing synergy is what they call it.

Wished Honda still kept a twin race bike, but that’s not really their market or jam.

I just want a big, lopy twin that has some THUMP to it (you know what I mean?)

Like, i LOVE my daytona. the noise it makes is like a high end italian dinner. fine dining. light tastes that intermingle just right.

High compression twins are the burger and fries. Big. simple. Brutal. and sometimes, JUST what you need.

I know exactly what you mean, my 3 bikes consists of ....

- 2006 Suzuki SV650S

- 2009 Buell 1125R

- 2018 Harley Forty-Eight Special

As you can see, I love twins :)

I’ve had ~36 bikes in my 8 years of riding.

10 of them were Sv’s in so me way shape or form.
a cruiser here and there.
some jap 600s
atm, I have 2 triumph daytonas (track/street) a 92 CBR250Rr (250cc 4 cylinder..19k rpm redline) a cbf 1000 and a VFR750.

I mis my twins time to time.

I’ve had my share of other bike configurations , including a Speed Triple and ZX636, but my preference are twins.  The sound and torque, the on/off switch nature of the power delivery, etc.

I think out of the bikes I still have, I will always keep my SV650.

I used to ride in the late 90s-early 2000s, when v-twin sport bikes were popular. I drooled over these, ducati’s, and Aprilias every time i saw them. I really wanted a Suzuki TL1000-R though. To this day I think an Aprilia RSV1000R riden in anger is one of the best sounding bikes out there.
