I saw this and the new heritage edition Land Cruiser this morning, I took a picture of both, but only this one actually took for some reason. These are really neat kits.
They are like a roof top tent except you can remove the cushions and get that space as headroom. So if you are camping someplace where the weather sucks you don’t have hunker down in a tent you can barely sit up in, you can be inside your jeep that you can just barely stand up in. But hey, you can run the engine heater, you can crank tunes, you have access to all your stuff and you can setup a nice little couch and worthstation.
I like that fact that these are basically slide in units. insulated shell, pop top, the whole thing just replaces the standard top.

$8-14k is a hell of a lot of money for a bit more headroom in your tent.

Holy crap, yeah it is. You also losse the ability to take the top of easily like a soft top.
For the same mondt you could get an actual pop up camper. Like a nice one too

If you think about is as more of a home, or RV conversion its less painful. You aren’t (or shouldn’t be) considering this conversion unless you plan to spent a lot of time in there. Then again, its still way cheaper than a nice VW westy.

We paid a lot less for our pop top camper, which I think is very nice, but its fragile and wont go fun places. Its a base camp solution. This is for the single person or couple doing long distance touring.

Pffft, a $8- 14k accessory for a Jeep? I think you underestimate how much money people are willing to throw away.

You could buy another nice old Jeep for that money.

I’m definitely not your typical Jeep owner. Most expensive accessory on mine, other than my tires, is the old ass $150 Warn I found on CL. My backpack cost more than any accessory on my Jeep.

I also like these. When I was in full #overland dream-mode earlier this year I looked into these. I like them as a straightforward conversion that basically is easily reversible or can move to another vehicle, as opposed to cutting off the roof as Tim and Kelsey of Dirt Sunrise did.
Definitely a bit of sticker shock, but if I were to get a new Wrangler with a soft top, there is savings there over a factory hardtop . I don’t want a convertible anyway, so that isn’t a loss. But in the end I didn’t want the road noise and poor handling of a Jeep, and I am not overlanding in the foreseeable future, so I went in a different direction .
